All of us have to live with the actions of the generation before us. But instead of trying to constantly downplay and deflect criticism whenever a racial incident occurs, I wish we could spend that energy making sure we are inclusive. We talk a lot about the extremists and the free speech issues, but very little about the average black student who often unwanted by the students as a whole.

He probably stole something and this is why they put that on his door. I boubt they just decided to start harrassing this one African. There are a lot fo black kids at Ole MIss that are not facing these things so I would just about put money on it that he stole something.

I attended school in two different states and I can assure that with regards to civil rights and racism Alabama and Mississippi were very prominently mentioned in all of my American history books from middle school all the way through college. Little Rock got an honorable mention.
Plenty of ugliness all over this country but Alabama and Mississippi are forever going to be tarred by that reputation. It may not be fair to your mind but that's the perception that exists largely reinforced by the images from the 50s and 60s broadcast into people's living rooms by the likes of Walter Cronkite.

How exactly did I do this? I didn't write the article. I posted it, but since I'm a rival fan that makes the article bull shite? If OBReb would have posted it, that would have made it factual? Don't you have to take logic classes in law school? If so, you may want to go ahead and drop out.

What sucks too is that when these things get reported by the national media it will conveniently be left off that we have a AA female as our ASB president, had a AA homecoming queen, numerous campus leaders who are AA, and our AA enrollment is higher than it has ever been.
And to all the people throwing stones, just like BrerTiger said, Glass houses, glass fricking houses. They also need to realize that this makes the entire south and especially Mississippi look awful. So you State fans who love this shite, remember, it's making "your state" look terrible.
