I’m not anti-fraternity in general, but I do think there is a bizarre accountability problem on college campuses.
Severe incidents like these should result in permanent, non-reversible bans of the entire national organization on that college campus.
College administrators seem to falsely believe they need these organizations.
New ones would very quickly start to take the placr of some of the shitty “muh tradition” ones. There’s no need to protect organizations that frick up. If an organization can’t follow the law and campus rules, they get the boot. This shouldn’t be complicated.

A frat at one school in Arkansas beat a kid so bad he had kidney failure and had to have skins grafts when I was in school. They were kicked off campus forever and damn near brought the entire organization down. It also pretty much killed all Greek life at the college.
For the life of me, I never understood how beating someone nearly to death is supposed to create some "brotherly bond."
Hazing originated in the Ivy League secret societies so everyone had dirt/blackmail on everyone else so they wouldn't tell others about the stuff the did. They screwed goats and sucked each other off and such. There was at least a purpose (albeit a very sick one) behind it all.
Now, what the hell is the purpose of putting fellow college kids who you will do nothing but drink and party with for 4 years through that kind of bullshite.
There's less hazing in military units than at most college campuses... And those guys are depending on the guy next to him to survive war... Not dime beer night at Maguire's Pub.

I don’t have a problem with this. Worse things have happened to me.

Did you get run over by a locomotive? Wait, obviously not. Hmmm, a crane? Set on fire? Uhmm, M-80 in your rectum? I can’t think of much worse than a steamroller but it’s possible the drum was empty and not full of water although it would still hurt just a tad.
