Ole Miss is not white trash. I say that as someone who is nauseated by all things Ole Miss. They are in fact,desperate social climbers obsessed with consumerism and a self-perpetuated myth that they are the natural heirs to a long-forgotten Southern gentry that never actually existed. In short, they try WAY too hard and are over-compensating because they are from the most insulted and caricatured backwater in the American south. Plus, the entire state (save the Coast) is almost impossibly boring and they tend to be ridiculously insular because that's all they have. But by and large they are not really white trash as normally defined. That's a bit further East.

Just an FYI to make sure you aren't to stupid in your future posts...in TX there's a top 10% role for state schools, so a lot of very smart kids are forced to go out of state. On top of the ones that are wanting to go to ivy league schools etc.
*utx is now top 8% after the state realized how many kids were leaving due to this "affirmative action" type law.

It is easier to get into Ole Miss than it is to get into Southeastern, a lovely school in the great Hammond, LA.

If you are so smart please explain why it is easier to get into ANY STATE FUNDED INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING IN MS than the school you mentioned. At that point you may understand why political correctness has hamstrung the system.

In short, it's Delta culture. Segregation academies and desperation. There are a tiny minority of people in that area who are wealthy (but stuck there for family reasons) and then there's a huge number of people who are also stuck there but try really hard to prove they're not white trash, because where they live is a really shitty part of the world for the most part.

Yep I went to a Mississippi boarding school with these precise people in the 1980's prior to their entry into Ole Miss. A lot of them were close friends. It was beyond belief how hard they struggled to one up each other on the "who is the swankiest" scale. It was just very important to them in a way that it was just not to people from all the other states. And we had a LOT of extremely wealthy families. The Ole Miss people built a weird mythology centered around appearance and status and they worked to preserve it at all costs. Meanwhile the kids that were going to State and Memphis,Alabama, LSU, Arkansas (hello Smitty I know you post here brother) were just "salt of the earth" or regular Southern folks. They just tried way too hard.

I'm speaking purely from an academics stand point. The academic requirements at Southeastern(GPA etc) are higher than that of Ole Miss. There is no special designation for political correctness.

Complete lie. Most Ole Miss grads are corrupt politicians with ties to white supremacy or fat local sheriffs with ties to white supremacy
