Ole Miss has the most Rhodes Scholars in the SEC? The award is named after a prolific white supremacist so why is that surprising considering Ole Miss's long fight to not allow black students admission?

I’ve pointed this out in the “anyone can get in to Ole Miss” threads. They don’t care about facts. Also as soon as Texas is official we drop to second I believe.

Let me guess?

In 2019, University of Tennessee graduate Hera Jay Brown became the first transgender woman to be selected for a Rhodes Scholarship. Two non-binary scholars were also selected for the 2020 class.

They are related. Cecil Rhodes (founded Rhodesia to establish a government separate from the Boar States) set up the scholarship to create an endless supply of clerks to help run the British Empire. He wanted rugged, simple, manly men that lacked the means or connections to go to university that above all else would be reliable in the governance of the colonies. Men with more loyalty than ambition.
It’s a running joke to me when people prop up the Rhodes Scholarship as some great pinnacle of scholarly achievement when it was established as a means to supply of middle management paper pushers.

Cecil Rhodes would shut the program down before giving a dime to a transvestite.
