Just WHAT is going on at Ole Miss? Have you heard about a video a big football booster and local developer Blake Tartt took one night out on The Square? In it he mocks African American students and says that with them present "it is literally like being in the Congo jungle". The video is on Vimeo. There are also emails between Tartt and an Ole Miss dean sharing concerns about the presence of African Americans on The Square. The video and related photos are on Myspace.
Rumor among the faculty up there is that the video and emails came to light a few weeks ago and they and more anti African American emails between Tartt and dean Will Norton have been circulating among Ole Miss employees. The video just appeared in the last week. There seems to be a connection between the video emerging and Norton's decision to resign.

Can this be good for Ole Miss recruiting African American athletes or other African American students?

Everyone looks to be getting along ok minus the racist comments. Why’s he care?

Nothing like a one post guy with an axe to grind trying to sink an entire school with a random scurrilous video . You just SCREAM integrity.

African American athletes must be pleased that such people have suites where they can watch them risk fatal injury. Some way to honor Chucky Mullins. Entertain me! Is this a throwback or a holdover from 1962? Revel in the performance but revile the performer and those who look like the performers.

Sounds about right to be honest didn’t expect anything less from people who think this way. Sad

An email obtained through FOIA (BTW, they were two honors students not hookers). Seems he just didn't like non white folk invading his sacred Square.
I took this picture. It was taken from the steps of The Chop House just after the after the bars closed Saturday. I went to check on my property. You know Oxford and Ole Miss have real problems when black hookers are working on Jackson Avenue. The African American visitors from other towns were competing for her affection. It made me sick.
All may think I am living in the past and not progressive enough. I happen to know what happens when a place is over taken by the wrong elements. For all the movement for total inclusion social engineering does not work.
This has all made me very sick.

Just give the idiot what he wants, he wants an all White Campus and all White Sports Teams
I'm sure there are other places Ranked # 211 on the USNWR Top Colleges list where those students can get in-State tuition
Every HS FB Coach needs to show this vid to their players and their parents, and suggest that they refuse any in-home visits from U Mississippi and any correspondence from U Mississippi
Time for elite Recruits to boycott Miss State & U Mississippi FB until it hurts, boycott them until they're worse off than SMU in the mid80s
From looking at the Vid no one was drinking in Public, no one was loud and boisterous, just young folks different from him that were minding their own business, why was thid middle aged guy filming a place where young College Kids hang out, they seemed to be in the Street or sidewalks clearly on Public Property
For some azzholes, "live and let live" seems to be too difficult for them to accept

And there is this one to. Bare in mind there were no hookers just students. The women were dressed like everyone else out for a night after a football game.

You did not see The Square, the fights and the real African hookers. Football is just a game. Mark my words if it does not stop we will have a shooting on The Square. That is serious.
I know how hard it must be. The Ole Muss Culture has been ruined. It will never be fixed. Just like Houston it will never be the same.

It woudda been simple enough for the booster not to make the video. Or to not make the comments about black students making The Square feel "literally like being in the Congo jungle". Or to wait a day and send it out.
Three bad choices that point to a sick culture among Ole Miss boosters.

Aren’t you even a bit worried that you are painting with too broad of a brush and that you may cause great harm to people who are Ole Miss boosters and who also champion civil rights?
Of course you aren’t.

Just pointing out the truth about this one. And at least one dean who feels the same way.
I suppose the school removing the Confederate monument in the middle of campus and the renaming of the building, Vardaman hall, that was named for a governor who advocated the lynching of all blacks in Mississippi shows the commitment to racial justice in Oxford. Oh! Wait! The monument is still there and so is the name on the building.
