Have any of you discussed the complete lack of effort by the Ole Miss WR after the Alabama pick-6? It was Jay Cutler bad. Y'all had to be enraged about that.

It was a business decision.

That was inexcusable. If that happened on our team then I would bet that he would not see the field this week and would run until he puked during practice today. I am sure Luke took care of the kid when he saw the tape.

A casual look at the Wowdy Webel board could answer this question.

It was horrible. I mean, you almost never see that sort of complete apathy. The best alternative -- and it's semi-viable but still makes the guy (and his coaches, since coaches teach you not to do this) look lazy as frick -- is that he just assumed the Bama player didn't actually catch it, just knocked it away. It was a pretty amazing and unlikely catch.

Well, he's not wrong. I like Cutler as much as the next Vandy fan, but the guy has gotten really into coasting lately.

When the Bama player starts running away from you and you don't see the ball on the ground, the least you can do is act like you're going after him.

Whenever I saw the number on the jersey I knew he wasn't about to exert himself tackling an Alabama player. The guy is incredibly gifted but lacks drive and is soft if you ask me.

Yeah. As I said, even if I'm right and he made that assumption, he was lazy as hell, and that's on the coaches as much as the players. I only played in high school, but I guarantee you my coaches made it clear that if any of us ever gave up on a play before the refs whistled the ball dead, we wouldn't stop running at practice until Forrest Gump stood back and said, "That just don't seem right."

Pretty sure he didn't realize the player caught the ball. I thought it was pretty obvious and was surprised people made a big deal out of it.

See my comments. I think that you're probably right, but that's not the reason people are making a big deal about it.

I was impressed how the Bama defense recognized what was happening and immediately formed a wall to block for the guy returning the ball. They obviously practice that and executed it.

I just assumed he thought Wallace dropped it. He bobbled the pick. But, yeah dude probably just said frick it.

That was when I turned off the TV.

They do, most teams do... when a pick is made the defense blocks like they would for a kickoff return to whichever side of the field the pick was made on..
