Are you retarded? Any AD worth his salt has his ducks in a row to pivot quickly should his guy leave. OM’s AD didn’t do that, instead he wasted time and let this all drag out which gave FL, AU, and Arky plenty of time to hire coaches OM wanted.

How can Ole Miss get their ducks in a row while 11-1 and heading to the playoffs? It dragged out because Kiffin dragged it out.

Ole Miss could have a new coach hired today, but the new guy would not be in a position to coach a playoff run. It’s ludicrous that you think that possible.

Where did I say the new coach would be available for the playoffs? Stop making shite up.

I’m talking long term for OM. They missed out on the biggest remaining targets because their AD is incompetent.

The AD coaches the team? He had a whole week of his ultimatum period where he didn’t meet with other candidates.

Hope for the best prepare for the worst. The AD didn’t do that.

Which should have been a massive red flag and call to action for OM’s AD to get moving on securing a replacement

So he should have gone behind Lane's back & hired a guy for a HC position that isn't open?

So fire Kiffin and pay a buyout of 40 million while making Lane look like the victim? Keith could get some flack for the 22 contract but blaming him for this is peak idiocy

Only you guys think this was a plausible conclusion to this situation

LSU fans are collectively the dumbest fanbase in the world.

Again, no. But you start getting the affairs in order engaging with possible replacements.

I don’t care either way. LSU got their guy. Instead of doing his job and insulating OM from the impact of losing Kiffin, he made it worse.

That’s not opinion. That’s fact. Argue it as you may.

Maybe he's already done that. You don't know he hasn't. Problem is, he can't interview or offer anyone because Lane is still the coach at Ole Miss.

He hasn't left yet.

It's difficult to have ducks in a row when those ducks are being poached in real time by other teams. Just this morning Golesh was hired from South Florida by Auburn and Sumrall was hired away from Tulane by Florida. Meanwhile Kiffin remains officially employed by the University of Mississippi until he officially steps down and takes the LSU job.

There was no keeping Kiffin.

I think it’s pretty clear that Kiffin has known all long…probably for years that when one of the top schools came along he was leaving.

He knows what he has at Ole Miss and what he doesn’t.

The thing the AD fricked up on was that he should have. Tried to preserve everything surrounding this year. Instead, he played his hand like a woman scorned.

I’ve read they matched every offer LSU made. What else does an AD do? If he doesn’t want to be at OM, he doesn’t want to be at OM

Totally agree. It was a poorly kept secret that Lane was looking elsewhere…

And I’d be shocked if they weren’t preparing for this eventuality.

I just think they are dealing with how to handle the playoffs now.

You don’t think they should have gotten that hint weeks ago and be prepared for this?

Yes. I think they got the hint.
