Why did y'all play before Thanksgiving that year?

Anyone else feel like college athletes just looked "older", even in the face, than today's do?

Iron Bowl moved to Friday after Thanksgiving

Game was always before Thanksgiving until 2009 maybe? When they added the 12th game to the schedule we moved it back I think.

Used to always be the week before Texas - Texas A&M and Georgia - Georgia Tech

From 1993 to 2007, the Iron Bowl was played the week before the Thanksgiving holiday, allowing the teams an open week before the SEC Championship Game. But the SEC, which controls the week-by-week scheduling of league games, moved the rivalry to Thanksgiving weekend in 2008.

Seems like everyone from that era looked older. Guys and girls.

The Iron Bowl was normally played the Saturday after Thanksgiving, or even the week following that in the 60s and 70s, IIRC.

They may have played on the Friday before Thanksgiving once, but I'm not sure.

With very few exceptions, people lived a lot harder life back then than they do now.

Crazy how Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia all basically have the exact same uniforms they had in the 1960s-1970s.

Hey Summer, you mind if I put a bunch of old programs ITT? Or do think I should start a separate thread?

Nice - I had kept every program since like 1994 in a big box. When we moved into our little house in Atlanta my wife made me take them all back up to Kingsport. Love looking back through those things. Very cool.
