Also elections in 1876,1888, and 1960 had claims of rigged elections.

It seems that defining gender is pretty basic. Man and woman. The rest is just some new wave psycho babble. After reading the paper and the rubric, it is clear the teaching assistant was in the wrong. The assignment was an "opinion" assignment, not one that was supposed to reference scientific research as had been stated. The rubric included:

Does the paper show a clear tie-in to the assigned article? 10 points.
Does the paper present a thoughtful reaction or response to the article, rather than a summary? 10 points
Is the paper clearly written? 5 points

With a rubric like that, it'd be very difficult to give her less than 25 points. With the TA already having complaints against him and with the student's mother being an attorney that has taken these cases, it sets up an interesting scenario where the University was wise to act against the TA.

For an "opinion" paper, it was acceptable. The standards for scholarly articles are much higher. However your criticism reminded me of people who write sentences like, "They aren't very intellegent".
