My mom's dad had this done too, so we're pretty familiar with the process. Still a really scary thing to go through. It's kind of odd that less than a week before the biggest game of UGA's season, a game that he so deeply relishes because of his own boyhood, that he be faced with such a monumental hurdle in order to see another meeting between these two programs. Now, he'd be the very first to tell me that it's just a game and that God willing he'd be happy to just wake up on Sunday in good enough health to go to church, praise God, and then read the paper and a book. But I can't help but hope that he gets to enjoy this game at least one more time. I think I might skip the game and go watch it with him in the hospital. In fact, i think that's what I need to do

i should have expected it but i am absolutely dumbfounded that AU has found a way to play the victim card for this game. y'all are like cartman in the episode where he convinced himself he came up with the fish sticks joke

Sorry, yall were the ones with PF's in the 1st Q(second play)...yall were the ones causing those fights...yall were the ones leaving the bench and having no interest in playing a game.

if you honestly think that Georgia was the aggressor that game then their is no point in arguing because you good sir are already too far off kilter to be argued with

There is no argument. UGA set the tone on the second play of the game.

We'll set the tone on the first play this time. By a nice John Jenkins body slam

By taking an early lead? I agree. And Fairley responded by dragging his face mask over our QB's face, then spearing him in a flagrant manner. We might have shown up ready to fight in more than one way, but to insinuate that AUburn didn't show up with the same ideas in mind is the very definition of blind homer ignorance. Both teams played a role and neither is less culpable than the other in creating the feeling of bad blood that carries into Saturday's game. This is a fierce rivalry, and we were all reminded of that last year

I love the assumptions that the AU players just said "frick it! We already won the game...lets throw punches for no reason and get suspended for the Bama game."

Y'all started it, we ended it.

If you start it again, we'll end it again.

Georgia is weird in that I actually kinda liked and respected UGA until I came to Auburn.

I never said Auburn did that. I'm insinuating that both Auburn and Georgia went into that game with the shared intention of playing mean and aggressive, and when we started it, Fairley reacted, Ben Jones reacted, Fairley reacted again, and then our whole team got pissed off. Both sets of hands are equally dirty. Can you not admit that?

And most Georgia fans reciprocate the same sentiments about Auburn now. There was a sort of friendly lull in the series last decade. As has been pointed out in this thread, this is not a historically friendly rivalry. It is very much a fraternal series, as both teams have borrowed and shared integral coaches and players throughout our respective histories, but it has been filled with a lot of aggressive hard fought games and plays

Well, you'd best add an asterisk to that statement and put my name next to it as an exception. I know what role we played, and I only endorse it because I know Auburn fans will endorse the same thing out of their team. There is nothing wrong with playing aggressive and letting emotions boil over. This is a violent game between two very similar programs. Many of the guys on these teams know each other form recruiting. But I think we can also agree that there is something wrong with our guys looking for a brawl at the end of the game and Fairley looking to paralyze our quarterback

I agree with this. Kind of why it confuses me that I've read on here about how the UGA fans are gonna make it hell on AU fans because of last years game. Huh? Guess I need to make sure I wear boots Saturday.

I had to tell a buddy of mine in Flowery Branch over the weekend that I was sitting this one out. I know him too well.

i doubt it'll be as bad as it's being built up to be. but it sure as shite won't be as congenial as usual. and if we lost i can go ahead and say it would get downright ugly. luckily i don't have to worry about that.
