Team meeting at 4 and presser at 6? seems like i read this somewhere could have been a joke though. but usually people don't joke about pressers at 6.

Could we send Bobby Petrino to rehab and then re hire him once JSmith is done.

From Smith's wiki page - Seems like he's a lot like that POS Petrino - "After the 2002 season, Smith was hired as the head coach at Michigan State, which created controversy because Smith was hired before Louisville's bowl game that season, and he did not inform his Louisville players of the decision until halftime of the bowl game, which they lost to Marshall."

So if the Cowboys suck this year and Jerry hires his boy Les, then LSU/Tenn/Arky will all be looking for a coach at the same time.
Could be an interesting Coaching Changes Board this year!

On an interim basis in a similar point in the year, even Ohio freaking State couldn't do better than Luke Fickell. Calm down.

I don't think people's issue is with the "splash" or lackthereof of who the interim is...the issue is the choice of this particular coach as interim.
nobody really cares who the interim is or is not. But this particular choice makes you scratch your head...actually the best choice for an interim would be one that kind of goes unnoticed.

This hire is certainly a one and done

Nah, if people would be smart and think about it...it makes perfect sense.

The Ohio State situation is entirely distinct from Arkansas's and not a valid comparison in my mind. Not only did Arkansas have an entire month more than Ohio State to find a coach, it also isn't facing possible sanctions.

of course, but you open up a whole different can of worms when he goes 10-2 or better that you could have avoided by hiring/promoting a no-name.
And if by some miracle he wins the SEC, he won't be one-and-done.

In my opinion if we had to go interim this was the best option outside of McGee, who would not take a one year interim position. He will allow the coordinators to do their jobs and mainly be a players coach like Chizik. Only until December though, the only way he stays is if he wins the SEC, which in that instance no one in the state of Arkansas would want to break up this staff.

Should have hired Butch Davis permanently, but if you are going interim for only a 1 season gig, John L Smith is much better hire that any of the assistants mentioned like McGee, Paul Petrino, etc.

Yes he will. Like I said in another thread, this is it for him. He's gonna make more in 10 mths than he would in multiple years at Weber State...and he won't have to do a whole lot for it.
He's doing this and hanging it up.
