Pat Fitz has produces a representive team at a private school that does not lower the academic bar for athletes, with smart two stars he has hung in there vs the Ohio States' that turn a blind eye to grades. The kid is the shite and will prolly not leave Northwestern until he replaces Nick Saban at Alabama
Fitzgerald may never leave Northwestern (at least to take a 'better' job). He's an alum, is still getting paid a lot of money, and probably sees the advantage of being able to keep his job forever by winning 7 games a season.
I don't know of him THAT well, but I never have seen Fitz as the type of guy to crave a National Championship so badly as to repeatedly move 'up' from school to school to get one.
As a Penn State fan, I was hoping that the Nittany Lions could get him. Some of this same discussion came up during PSU's search, and it became obvious that he was happy at Northwestern.
So now, I don't think he would leave Northwestern for Arkansas.

Arkansas HC job > PSU HC job

Not even close, especially before the scandal.
But Arkansas is a still great job, and Arkansas can probably get a coach 'better' than Fitzgerald anyway.

Multiple Sources are reporting that Steve Mariucci and Josh McDaniels are interested in the Arkansas job.
Interesting.
Interesting.

Wisconsin and Notre Dame both a couple hours away from Fitz' native Chicago if he leaves NW he is likely to surface there ?

Josh McDaniels hasn't even entered camp with the Patriots, since coming back to New England. He also hasn't even served as so as an assistant at the college level. He was a GA at Michigan State under Nick Saban.
Steve Mariucci hasn't coached in college since 1996. He has three years total at the college level.

College Coaches that would repair damage are Fitz, Golden, and possibly nobody else has the rep or clout for Pig fans. But they will have to dig deep in coffers for both. I don't know if people would accept a Peterson or Patterson due to not having "beaten anyone good" or "they haven't proved themselves in an SEC type league."
I have no clue who it will be or who is reporting who is coming.

Just go get Butch Davis, he's a rebuilding specialist and an alum as well as one hell of a recruiter who will likely keep this staff intact for at least a year. I for the life of me can't figure out why people are so anti-Butch.

You don't get out much huh? The pre-pre game and post game Hogs shows are limiting your knowledge base if you do not know why. But good luck nonetheless

An actual answer would be helpful as opposed to an insult. It just makes very little sense.

I'm not anti-Butch, but I'm not really pro-Butch either. I will say I would rather have him than Malzahn or Mcgee.

We need someone to keep this thing going. Our program is in great shape....outside of not having a HC.

Davis has NCAA baggage due to Carolina probation. He also is someone who has at times been confrontational to extreme with fan base. Although he did clean up Miami, he bailed on them and some may think he would do same here.

Bailing = taking a better job in the NFL?

Too old. This would be his last job.

Cleveland wasn't a better job. It paid more yes, but not better professionally.

The same argument could be made for Nick Saban leaving LSU for the Dolphins.
