I've got two.

I just had to put one to sleep (hardest thing I've ever done) and bought an 8 week old shortly after. Heisman is the puppy and Lunchbox is the 6 year old that sleeps, sheds, farts and that's about it.

Lunchbox isn't happy about losing a pal and gaining a little pest. But when Heisman starts growing up, he'll liven up and get with the program.

Don't they have back issues? My wife loves Bassett hounds, I've not let her get one (she has 2 cocker spaniels already) yet. Her next one will likely be a Bassett or a Golden Retreiver.

Yeah it's hard, I had to put my first basset (Roscoe) to sleep (he was having a heart attack.) My next one (Buddy) got to age 3, ran off once and that's all it took...crushed me.
This is my best friend, Buster. He is a professional thief.

If you don't control their jumping (on couch) they are prone to back issues. It's nearly impossible if you keep them inside like me.

FYI, N.O. is a fun place. It's also a haven for cutthroat thugs. Anyone saying different doesn't know WTF they're talking about. Enjoy yourselves, but do not get shite faced and forget about your surroundings.

I've heard bassetts are difficult to housebreak. Is that true? My lab was housebroken in a matter of days. I'd like to get a bassett but I'm afraid he will piss in the house. Don't they tend to roam as well?

I'm just guessing but that's what one of my Bassets did when the older one died. I've had hounds my entire life. 6 years old is still young enough for Lunchbox to get back on track.

A Basset will win in a war of the wills, as long as they are inside. They will negotiate. Let 'em have their "own" couch and they'll be happy with that.

Arkansas went to Memphis last year. I went to the Liberty Bowl last year and I can tell you that ti is hard to complain about NOLA after going to Memphis. That place is a shithole.

i lived in new orleans for 5 years. some of the nicest people i've ever met live there. i was older so i wasn't that party crazy (still partied some though) and had two young kids. i'd move back in a heartbeat and may yet if the opportunity arises. oh, and never got robbed.

I'm 2 for 3 in house training bassets. The key is to buy young as possible and give treats for success. Kinda like Auburn and Newton.
