Alabama is scheduling 2 OOC opp in 2025 and going forward....when Saban retires

Georgia has been doing it now since they no one really counts Ga tech.

Don't forget that back in 1965, FSU was a cupcake. Some of those well known teams on the schedule now were not that good.

C'mon man, don't be that guy...

In some of those circumstances the record isn't a great indicator of strength overall.

Personally speaking about Arkansas, we could have a sucky record and be 2nd in the Big 12. other major conferences. THis conference eats its own. As Josh Pate said, Arkansas would have won several conferences or finished 2nd in those and would have been good enough for a playoff position in the future. 9 wins in the SEC for the 2nd year coach is fairly dang good.

plus, when we, GA, FL the SEC schedules... they may be great at that time and then suck by the time the schedule comes around. or vice/versa. Notre Dame was cancelled for use last year because of Covid.. I believe. BUt are back on our schedule in the coming years, as is Ok State, Cincy, etc.

I did acknowledge this in another post on this thread, and Navy was a decent team

Only three of those teams were ranked in 65. #4Alabama, #18Kentucky, #12Florida.

This year we played #1, #2, #11 all on the road. With three other teams ranked when we played them: Texas, Ag, State.

Miss me wid it

back then, MI, AL & GA Tech were considered powerhouses

FSU was probably considered our "cupcake game"

Vandy is an SEC team

how they did that year doesn't matter; the fact that big name schools were scheduled like that is the point

but I'm guessing you knew that

Wow, really? OK, let's look at the previous 10 years winning % of these "powerhouses":

Michigan: 55%
GaTech: 63%
FSU: 48%
Vandy: 38%

Wow, brave enough to take on teams that averaged 4-6 wins a season. Incredible. Even Bama had mustered just a 61% winning streak in that timeframe.

so, your position is that Michigan was not considered a powerhouse at that time?

Seems more logical than seeing a team that is barely over .500 for the previous decade as an example of a "tough" team.

And actually, I just checked and they only had two good seasons in the ten years prior to that.

So yeah, if Michigan was considered a powerhouse in 1965 then Miami, Colorado and Nebraska should be considered "powerhouses" today.
