The reason is recruiting the portal and holding his team together. Look how fast the portal has grown over a thousand players.

Because NIL has become a bigger priority for all of us. Auburn was smart to build a new gym before covid and all this inflation.

Bama’s been to the Sweet 16 X3 In four years with a Final 4 in an “off season.” They’ve been a number 1 seed and a number 2 seed, two time SEC champs both regular season and tourney. All under Oats. If that’s not elite coaching, I don’t know what is? What’s Show Cause Pearl done in the same time frame?

Why not include Pearl's entire HC career, chicken shite fan?

The whole resume matters in job searches do they not? It's not Pearl's fault Oats is just a HS coach.

Defining moments, like this, are never pleasant as a fan base, but you eventually learn a lot. The character of a man is just words thrown into the air until you live it. Coach Oats has actually made it clear many times to the BAMA fan base that he is committed here. When the situation arrives that holds a man to his word, only then do you learn.

BAMA basketball had 2 head coaches who could have taken the program to great heights but quickly flamed out. CM Newton had the Tide feared in the 70s and quickly burnt out and Wimp Sanderson was gaining altitude and prestige until his personal conduct sunk the ship.

It takes the right guy and it takes longevity to create a masterpiece in any sport. Coach Nate Oats has that look.

Kalen DeBoer - 104-12 All Time Record.

Just how many wins does that translate to in basketball language?

So shouldn't Bruce Pearl have been the leading candidate instead of Nate Oats? It's not Oats fault that nobody wants Bruce Pearl and his resume' except Auburn.

What makes you think you know who are the leading candidates?

I do know who the SEC fears:

Jeff Goodman

I asked 4 SEC head coaches to anonymously rank the following 6 Kentucky candidates:

“Who do you fear the most?”

Here are the results:

1. Scott Drew
2. Bruce Pearl
3. Nate Oats
4. Billy Donovan
5. Sean Miller
6. Chris Beard

Which of these 3 have coached at a major D1 college the longest?

The most important question was "who is most feared at Kentucky"

Pearl's collective coaching career is as relevant as Oats' upstart career. It's not my fault Pearl is Oats' daddy.
