No it has not been debunked. His body of work shows teams dominated by a star player without a lot of depth around him. I still think he is a great coach though that would have been great at a school like LSU where recruiting is not that hard. Nutt was Saban's recommendation by the way before Miles was hired.

Yet another reason why you should not listen to a coach that is leaving.

remember Bear wanted Ray Perkins to take over and he did.... where did that get you?

It is easier to recruit to LSU than Ole Miss or Arkansas, but Saban and Miles have been the only 2 guys in the past 30 years to bring great talent into Baton Rouge each year

Knowing Saban he probably wanted someone who he knew couldn't live up to what he had done.

Not true at all. LSU has typically been a school with a lot of talent that could never find a good HC. Dinardo recruited well, and Saban won the SEC within 2 years with his players.

What? You actually think Oxford is as big a draw as Baton Rouge???? Oxford is a great College Town, as is Fayetteville, but neither program has ever had the success that LSU has had over the past 10 years. It is much easier to recruit to a school with a recent winning tradition.

Was a misunderstanding.

Saban was standing in the plane doorway, with Heizenga's (sp?) jet whining.

LSU Admin #1: (yelling) "Nick, who should we hire"

Saban: (yelling) "You can suck my nuts!"

Lsu Admin #1: (to colleague)"Who did he say?"

LSU Admin #2: "Sounded like 'Houston Nutt'!"

Good coaches don't grow on trees, there are so many factors that go into everything that you can't really say for sure a guy from another conference, the NFL, etc. will do in the SEC. I see all these lists that LSU fans make to replace Miles and you never know who just might be a lot worse than ole Les.

I think it is true. Under Saban and Miles LSU usually has had a top 10 recruiting class. Did that happen with Curly, Dinardo, etc?
