Jefferson, may or may not be better than McElroy right now or by season's end, but his upside is almost infinitely higher, be it today, tomorrow, on forward.

Given LSU's offensive line this year, definitely Jefferson over McElroy for LSU '09..McElroy is built for a line like Bama's from last year in '08, or LSU's for Mauck in '03, or Flynn in '07.

From the limited amount of snaps Ive seen from both this year, I would say that the only thing Mac is better at is touch on the deep ball. However, Im hoping rain had a lot to do with that. It is a close call IMO but Im sticking with JJ.

And if consideration is to be made for upcoming years and not just this one, its not even close.

If Jefferson's I.Q. was above 70, I'd take him. That leaves McElroy as the only choice.

On what are you basing the fact that Jefferson's IQ is low? I've heard nothing but praise for how sharp he is with regards to learning plays, minimizing mistakes etc. Your post is the first I've ever heard of this.

Does this argument really matter...LSU will say JJ and Bama will say McElroy...They play in different systems...Bama is run, run, throw long when the safety runs up for run support (VT) - LSU is more of a spread offense...I do believe you have not seen the best of JJ so far...JJ has not made the bone-headed play this year and like Mike Ditka said, "the only stat for a QB that is important is Ws and Ls'.

I think they have both played well, and the only reason everyone is saying JJ is because he is the better of the two

fixed it

JJ may be better in the long run, but after 2 games, he hasn't shown the ability to find open receivers or throw passes downfield past 5 yards with any consistency. Most of the completions against Vandy were 5 yards or less. That'll have to change or LSU will get killed once they get to the meat of the SEC schedule........

JJ, McElroy vs FIU doesn't do anything for me.
