This is how you determine greatness. Well then that shows that Miles is the better coach then.

Nutt and Petrino have never won a conference title.

Petrino has won Conference USA and the Big East titles. He even beat the defending national champs with one of the worst rosters in the SEC.

Nutt has also beat the defending NC coach this year in a thrashing with what is supposed to be a less talented team. He did the same last year at Arkansas.

Those accomplishments are not as significant as winning the SEC championship, national championship. No amount of spin will change that.

Counting conf USA and big east titles is like counting SEC West titles. Insignificant.

You said he had never won a conference title, you can only win the title of the conference you play in....

MNC is totally subjective, you can't say LSU's 12-2 team of last year was more of a MNC than 13-1 Georgia in 02, 13-0 Auburn in 04, or Texas and Alabama this year if they both win their bowl games

"you can't say LSU's 12-2 team of last year was more of a MNC than 13-1"

Yes I can because we have a trophy. It looks like this:

I know this concept confuses posters from schools that have never received this trophy, or have not received it in 15+ years. But thats the trophy. When they give you the trophy, it means you are the best team.

no shite, maybe i didn't clarify enough: the MNC in college football is totally a crapshoot, whether you win something or are deserving of something are two totally different things; there's no way a two loss team is more deserving of a title than an undefeated or even one loss team, just more fortunate

No. It means you are the champs, not the best team.

Currently, Les Miles has taken a National Championship team to a 7-5 record and lost to the worst team in the SEC.
I don't care how many championships you have won with that team, that's how he should be judged. No one has sucked that hard in 60 years.

Best post in this thread, no matter who your team is. We need an 11 game regular season, the bowls basically as they are, and four team playoff after the "final" poll,...and we need it NOW!

That depends on who they play.

now I am certain some of you are bogus Alabama fans.

An Alabama fans mind could not think like this:

"I don't care how many championships you have won"

but again, you're deciding who is better arbitrarily rather than relying on on-field results, the BCS (and Heisman) is basically a beauty contest especially when you're dealing with teams from the same conference

college football champions have always been somewhat questionable.

definitely, i'm not sure that an 8 team playoff is the answer, i think changing up the conference format might be a better idea (never will happen), jmho though
