I'm not getting into a pissing match on that, but I will say this-

LSU since the start of the 21st Century has been a premier program. Multiple national titles, multiple other Top 10 (top 5) finishes. Best period in program history, worst finish once we got started was 8 wins. We felt untouchable, that nothing would stop us from continuing to come back and contend again each year. Our fanbase was getting full of themselves, angry about wins that weren't stylish. A number of people wanted Miles fired after 2011, a 13-1 season that we played for a national championship, against a team we'd already beat once.

I'm not that guy. I remember hoping to get into the Independence Bowl, or feeling happy that we made a Sugar or Orange (and lost). I remember the Hallman years, going 4-7. I do NOT want that again. And in my opinion, we narrowly avoided that. It's too easy to crater, especially in the SEC. Teams will pass you in an instant.

Fair enough, I certainly watched a number of games pre-Saban in Bryant-Denny that were pretty ugly. I remember 0-9 Iron Bowl loss in sleet to complete a 3-9 season…most miserable game I’ve ever attended
