You’re arguing semantics. He also didn’t say to not hold him accountable on Year 3.

I don’t know what that means, I was merely offering a rejoinder and you went off on a tangent about the games we lost in 2024

Semantics aside. I believe Freeman has more wins vs top 10 teams than Kelly has the last 9 years. It is what it is. Kelly has been a disappointment. Freeman is making him look worse. If Kelly breaks through this season, great. I won't give him the benefit of the doubt though. He hasn't earned it. His record vs real teams at Dame is pitiful.

Kelly's problem was he didn't get enough top ten matchups vs Penn State, Indiana, or teams missing their starting quarterbacks.

So I'll ask, do you think he's a good coach ?

He can start by beating the teams he’s supposed to beat on paper on Saturday.

[quote]O left Kelly a team ranked #8 in the 247 Talent Composite.

The key word being LEFT. ALL that talent hit the portal BEFORE BK arrived in Baton Rouge. Your post is FAKE NEWS and would not hold up to a timeline test.

Absolutely, you don't win over 70% of your games over 20 years without being a good coach.

So a natty winning HC didn't make changes that blew up in his face? CEO failed big time after 2019.

Outside of an expanded playoff, how?

I don't think he's a great coach without a natty.

Would you have said that about Bobby Bowden before he won it all in 93?

I think he's a mediocre coach. I think he is one of those coaches who does well at place like Cincinatti. At Dame he played a soft schedule and lost most of the big games.

What would it take for you to consider him a great coach ?

I concluded entering 2024 that we were good enough to make the playoff with an at-large, had we not blown the USC, A&M, and/or Florida games, we are in but that's life in college football.

How did we blow the A&M (15 point loss) and Florida (11 point loss) games? What about the Ole Miss and South Carolina wins?

We were closer to 6-6 the 8-4 …

He's won over 70% of his games at three separate programs, it's hard to argue that's "mediocre".

For the soft schedule complaints at Notre Dame, his win percentage at LSU is just 2% less.

He has to win a natty IMO.

He’s a high floor, low ceiling, boring, unlikable coach. Could be better; could be worse. We’re in purgatory …. We’re Iowa or Wisconsin. Decent. Not great. It is what it is.
