You could easily say "what if Auburn played a complete game against alabama?"
UMM we shut you down, that's why you couldn't play in the first half.

Auburn would have won by 40
if we had scored the points we left on the field in the first half it wouldn't have mattered how you played in the second half b/c there would have been no possible way for you to have enough possessions to have tied the score up.

Teams make adjustments during games that change the way they play throughout the course of the game
really, who taught you this?

Agreed... and to add, Saban said it best on Friday in a presser, we are 4 or 5 PLAYS not quarters away from an amazing season. Thats really the truth, take SC out of the equation as a Loss, LSU and AU did not dominate UA. They each escaped with a narrow win that a TD/Field Goal to UA's favor would change an L to a W and we would likely be looking at AL in Arizona against the Ducks. Do believe that UA would beat SC in a rematch.
i'll say this...bama fans are an optimistic bunch...or dilusional....if if's and butts were candies and nuts we'd all be undefeated....you were exactly what you were...9-3 end of story

Really? Auburn shut you down in the second half... That's why you put up 67 total yards and 3 points that were given to you by an Auburn fumble in the second half.
The point was that the "What if Bama played a complete game?" question is stupid and could be played by almost every team.
And you're right, if auburn had played the first half the exact way they played the second half, auburn would not have won by 40...they would have won by 52.

if that younger team actually plays a complete game, pretty tough to beat whoever the opposition is.
problem was the Mich St game was probably the 1st time they did it all year.

but I don't think any team in the country could have beat Alabama yesterday. Alabama got every opponent's best game this year and were a few plays away from being undefeated.
Moral victory?
Bama looked great in their bowl game. Best they've looked all year since the Florida game IMO. However, Michigan State SUCKED arse. The Big X SUCKS arse.

Alabama was ranked 16th because of the 3 losses and will probably end up around 10. However, Alabama is a top 5 team. Can't wait for next year, Roll Tide
well bama was the best team in the country, then the best 1 loss team in the country, then the best two loss team in the country, and finally the best 3 loss team in the country. I'd definitely say you're the best capital one bowl champs in the country.

What happened this year to Alabama is called "The SEC." Alabama is probably the most talented team from top to bottom in the nation. However, when you play other good to great teams nearly every week, you have to play nearly flawlessly every game to go undefeated.
Alabama scored 35 points per game (more than last year) and also had the top overall defense in the SEC. On paper, Bama might be the best team in the nation, but bad things happened at bad times. The slightest bit of luck going one way or the other is often the difference between 14-0 and 10-3. Every title team from the SEC needs a lot of luck to make it unscathed.

You will be worse next year, at least offensively.

Most articulate and rational post in this whole thread.

you are what your record says you are...especially since you didn't have any huge, prolonged injuries
Marcel Dareus = 2 game suspension, ankle injury.
DJ Fluker = injured for 2 games.
Barrett Jones = ankle injury out for 3 games
Trent Richardson = injury, hurt for 3 games
Mark Ingram = knee surgery, missed 2 games, prolonged injury.
high ankle sprain in bowl game.
Mark Barron = torn pectoral
Courtney Upshaw = injured leg
Nico Johnson = injured leg
Greg McElroy = 2 concussions.
Julio Jones = broken hand.

quote:this. Barn got the breaks and made the plays it took to win the sec. Bama, lsu, ark didn't. Bama had a great team this year but you really have to have even more than that to go undefeated in the SEC. Auburn had a great team, the best player, good coaching, good calls, etc and still needed some luck to be undefeated. It's just the way it is.

We were everyones target this year and I think we played 7 teams coming off of a bye week. I think the SEC west has five teams that coud all be the top tam in the country.

quote:seriously man every team can do that. I know the hogs can. Mallett was hurt for our biggest game of the year. Our starting running back got a serious injury early on and missed the season. Our best receiver missed the last few games with an ACL injury. It goes on and on.

Offensively....no doubt.
Defensively....should be ridiculously good. Virtually every player that matters outside of Dareus returns from the SEC's top defense.
Even if the offense goes from 35 PPG to 25 PPG, it might be enough.
We will be in contention and that is all you can really ask from a coach in this conference.
