This is absurd even for an Aggy. Texas (and OU for that matter) has been absolutely fricked by Big 12 officials for years so not sure our wealth or the fact that our program (along with OU) financially supported every other school in the conference has made much of a difference for us on that front. Take a look at the number of times Big 12 opponents were called for holding against the best DL in college football with 2 AA DTs and get back to me on our supposed advantage with the refs.

W/r/t our fanbase - every school has a-hole fans but by and large I’d consider ours to be pretty damn friendly. The most legitimate criticism (though this is getting better) is that a lot of our fans are arrogant and/or fair weather. A lot of hardcore UT fans like myself are neither. I will openly admit that Texas is, historically, an underachieving program given our potential, but a lot of that has to do with a-hole boosters and poor hiring decisions. With Sark, Del Conte, and the aging out of the worst of our booster population this is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

I have said this to all of my SEC friends and multiple fellow LSU Dads (most of whom thought I was nuts), but Texas will be extremely competitive year in and year out in the SEC from Day 1. Hook’em and Geaux Tigers!

I like Sark and think he has what it takes, but one good season isn't enough to make him a lifer in Austin.

Exactly. He’s built an elite SEC roster and it’s refreshing to see guys develop for the first time in a decade plus. The next step is whether he continues to hire the right coaches as his staff gets promotion offers at other schools.
Sark isn't leaving Austin. He's from California and he knows first hand the issues w/ USC. Texas has so many built in advantages, which are being monetized, and the alignment at the very top has never been better than what it is now. Sark saw that 1st hand when he was hired.

Sark shows more promise than any coach at Texas since DKR, and it isn't even close. Mack drug Greg Davis around like an overweight anchor and his recruiting left a lot to be desired.

All Sark has to do is keep it between the lines and not drive into the ditch.

He learned two painful lessons the hard way; the degree to which "Stoops" means lower than whale shite to Texas, and the degree of intensity (hatred) our rivals have. Us olds new what to expect when Texas went to Arkansas; Sark had no idea what he was walking into. He's seen first hand the f*ckery of the B12 towards Texas. Lessons learned.

And before you honks can say wait til you get to the SEC, it will never be as intense as the first night in Fayetteville after ~ 30 years. Nobody else but A&M has that kind of passion, but CS is still in Texas.

Sarks pedigree puts him in a unique position among college coaches in that he has contacts across the county, from the NFL to the high schools:

He was the OC and architect of Alabama's explosive NC teams.
He was mentored under Nick Saban's and Pete Carroll's NC winning programs.
He coached in the NFL at Oakland & Atlanta.
He played QB at BYU at a high level (His 536 yards passing were the most ever against A&M).
He played HS football in California.

He made extensive contacts in the coaching world, and he's a likable guy. He took PK from Washington because PK did such a good job against him.

The assistants he took from Alabama coach Texas' QB, OL, TE & ST; He pulled his DC & LB from Washington, DB coach from Notre Dame, and from the NFL his DL (Bo Davis) & WR. His only G5 coach played and coached at Georgia Tech(RB Tashard Choice has built a top 5 RB room).

I have a lot of friends that graduated from Texas. Notice that I don't call them tu, because it is stupid. I have no beef with the actual grads. However, most of the fans I know couldn't even spell T-E-X-A-S. They are truly that stupid.

And I have a shitload of A&M friends that are phenomenal human beings. I don’t know why should be embarrassed by the fact that a lot of non-UT grads from the state of Texas support our program. I think A&M is the best example of how a minority of the fanbase can ruin the reputation for everyone else. All of my A&M friends, including one of who was Red Pot his senior year, are “2%ers” - it’s the pot bangers and corps frickers that give the school a bad reputation.

I hate the yell leaders. I would definitely be considered a 2%er. I simply went to A&M for veterinarian school

Yep. Ton of Aggy friends & family. Graduated from an SEC school (scholly). But, UT Austin fan (home).

Not to dunk on my own school, but Mizzou taking Auburn to the 4th quarter in the 2013 CCG was more unlikely. That was only our second year in the conference.

The fact is Texas and A&M have the dubious distinction of doing the least with the most for the better part of 20 years. If one of them wins the conference next year my first thought will be "About time..."

Anyone really paying attention can see that Texas looks legit. They don’t play soft and their offensive play calling is elite. Sark has always been a great play caller and just needed to get his life together. Any other take is copium as far as the casual fan can tell.

Honestly Texas has so much money and influence I believe it could spell the end of the Gump mafia which controls the who wins and loses big games against Alabama year in and year out. It is despicable and the SEC as a whole is sick of it.
