Well in our defense, it has been about 15 years since the conference sucked this bad in bowl season.

This. If Bama wins next week. The two best teams in the country are cleary in the same conference. When you have two teams that dominant in the same conference, there is a good chance the rest of the conference is not going to be spectacular and that has been the case this year.

Bowl record is overstated as a measure of conference strength. It's only a few games compared to dozens of OOC games during the regular season

outside of Bama and Florida the SEC is average at best, this was known by mid way through the season.

Been telling people that the SEC is NOT the best conference in football this year. Anytime you have two teams go undefeated, you have parity issues. You have two very good teams, and a bunch of mediocre teams. The SEC is the B12 of last season.
