Not true. But discussing that would be off-topic.

Because that's totally what we've been saying all along.

Same exact stuff was said about our football program before Spurrier arrived. The same exact stuff was said about our women's basketball program before Dawn Staley arrived. It took both 5-6 seasons to start becoming relevant.

There is no reason to think that our men's basketball program, especially in a weaker conference like the SEC, is any different.

Stoked. I guess because I'm older I never considered Auburn a dumping ground and crappy basketball program, but obviously it's been terrible the last decade +. My memory of a couple of Final 8 appearances (and being very excited about it) keeps me from giving up hope. Maybe this will be the ticket.

You should be stoked. The only bright side of this from an Alabama standpoint is this will light a fire under our administration and force us to respond . Unlike football, I think Alabama has always taken it for granted that Auburn didn't care as much about basketball as we did. This hire changes that and shows Auburn is serious about basketball even as much or more than building the new arena. If Alabama responds in kind after next year, basketball in this state is going to be really good again.

Great hire, but it's just a stepping stone back to coaching for Pearl. No way he stays at a university with such a lame basketball tradition.

We're not putting up a statue, we just want him to rebuild the program. I don't care what he does after that, as long as he doesn't leave us in shambles.
