coaches are probably always questioning whether to challenge it since the head office is telling them that they already looked at it and didn't stop it anyway.

Well in that situation there's nothing to lose. If you win you get the ball back. If you lose you just cost yourself a timeout that you weren't going to get to use anyway. Kirby definitely should have called the timeout and thrown a tantrum about a review come what may. If they don't do it or don't overturn the play then he just lost a worthless timeout since there was only a minute left in the half and Alabama had the ball.

Why didn’t Kirby Smart challenge the play?

This is about terrible officiating. And you and yours have complained about it ad nauseum when you feel it goes against you.

There may be some Bama fans that start threads about refs when shite doesn’t go our way, but they should suck it up as well. I’ve always said if you’re in a spot where you think a bad/missed call “cost you the game,” what were you doing the other 100 plays you had a chance to put yourself in better position?

Refs are humans that make mistakes, even with cameras and replay available.

At least you can acknowledge it wasn’t going to change the outcome

Asked this week why the fourth-and-4 play was not reviewed, the SEC insisted that it actually was.

This is in direct contradiction to what they told Mady Mertens from the Red and Black right after the game. She actually took a high resolution photo of the drop and wanted an explanation on why the review booth let it go. They told her it wasn't reviewed.
