No.

No matter what happens on defense, Gus has had a history of success with his offense.

Auburn improved from 5-7 in 2008 with one of the worst offenses in the league to 8-5 in 2009 with a school record setting quarterback.

2010's defense was by no means championship caliber and the team won a BCS championship with the offense.

2011 kinda sucked.

2013 featured a rather terrible defense that was saved game in, game out with a good offense.

2014 still had a great offense and if not for a few early frick ups (Miss State, Texas A&M), it could have been a 10 win season.

2015 is really the only season that Malzahn has had a putrid offense. He deserves the chance to fix the problems.

If T Rob, Lance, and Bentley leave as well, we might as well start over. Gus wouldn't have a fair shake with a new D staff while already being on the hot seat.

See that was the basis of my thinking. The defense will more than likely be worse than this year's. A few key recruits may flip anyways. The team may give up by mid October. There is no use to waiting until December 2016 to can him.

I believe they really want to. At least based on my RL interactions.

I know there is a contingency of fans that want him gone, but the fans don't have a say directly

Wow. You sidewalk fans from AUA never learn. They're going to raise the prices on you next season.

Then when Gus Bus cruises in with 5 losses you'll look back and remember that increase was done to help with expenses so JJ could pull the trigger.

As soon as they announce the increase (Spring) I'll help you with the math. Until then why don't you skip over to ITAT and join the rest of the Fambly wringing their hands and lamenting the season that's becoming the norm on the Plains.

I think they should break the bank and hire Les Miles.

No one will expect that.

no.

as stated before, I am ride or die with Gus.

I am 40, in my lifetime AU has played for two titles and he has been part of both of those times. I fully believe that he will turn it around. Yes, JJ was a bust at QB and then White was hurt after he relieved JJ. I am confident that Gus will get a QB to run this offense.

How many wins will it take for Gus to keep his job? 8? 9? There is potential for Auburn to lose 3 straight in October and their record could be looking at anywhere from 4-4 to 2-6 by the end of October. With all the turnover and uncertainty, should Auburn bite the bullet and just fire Gus and accept a slow rebuilding or wait a year?

Eight or nine wins next season should not save his job. The problem is our AD. He is a complete moron. Most of his pretty awesome hires come with baggage such as Bruce Pearl. Bruce Pearl is awesome but he was a year away from most of the offers. This season turned disastrous because as usual we can not develop a QB. Can not bite the bullet when we got from 12 to 8 to 6.

It's gonna be brutal with their rival programs rolling:

Saban- nuff said

Kirby- appears UGA has woke up from their coma. The bow tie crowd is out and $$$ boosters are in and gloves are off....

Frezzeus- will sign another big class and is on a roll

LSU - still tough....Miles had the fear of God put in him.

They are fighting with Bert, Aggie, and Merlin to stay out of the basement of the West

Gus finds a QB next year, and things will be on track again. He has the players at other positions to compete, but like most of the SEC, you are only as good as your QB. Remember he racked up 630 yards last year against Bama, with a converted DB. He lost 4 games this year by 8 points or less, with what most consider the worse QBs in the league. This is not 2011 or 2012, his team only had one blowout (LSU).

Well the ones I know aren't loonies. They have been quick to turn on him and just the overall type of football he brings; especially now that it isn't working anymore. The general consensus seems to be that defensive coaches have his offense figured out and it's only a matter of time now.

They could be wrong, but I agree with them. It is going to take a transcendent player at QB for him to have the kind of success that fan base wants.

You don't think the defense takes a huge step back next year?

If Gus falls on his face next year then yes we need to fire him. I wouldn't fire him right now the main reason is auburn needs to can JJ first so we might actually have a chance at making a decent hire

No, most of the best players were young. The Secondary is strong and there is some depth at the DL. LBs need to be developed. If Gus hires TRob as the DC, he will be the first black Coordinator at either AU or UA, so recruiting will be fine. Gus has proven he doesn't need a great D to be successful, just a better than average QB.

We should buy a QB.

It works.

A good QB solves a lot of problems.

We should have JetGated Gus for Tom Herman after the UGa loss. Oh well, at least Herman will still be up for grabs next year.

Edit for JetGated, not jetted.
