It has nothing to do with what McCoy is talking about, and more to do with the spring portal window and poaching players.

Citing “we play to many games” but scrimmaging during camp is flawed logic. It was Sark’s excuse and you guys bought it. There will still be scrimmages, just not a final public one. Josh Pate mentioned they probably just want to not show Archie during spring.

Pffft. Josh Pate.

Nobody’s “buying” anything. We don’t wanna have a spring game. Got it? Simple.

Why would they show Arch's grandpa in the first place?

Ryan Day recently said the Buckeyes will have a spring showcase instead of the traditional scrimmage game. He noted some of the same wear and tear concerns that Sarkisian did.

Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee will hold a traditional spring game.

“I’m either going to have coaches tampering with my players or I’m going to have a fan base that’s pissed off we don’t have a spring game,” Florida coach Billy Napier said. “Pick your poison.

Mississippi last year replaced its “Grove Bowl” last year with player activities such as seven-on-seven flag football, a dunking contest and a hot dog eating contest

The Spring Game for us is alway Parents Weekend. It’s kinda a big deal bc a lot of families go. A lot of parents first and only time at Kyle.

It’s weird when you don’t run the conference right?

It would be nice if we could just do our thing and nobody would care. But we’re Texas, so here you are…

Teams skipping will lose revenue. Its a great thing for fans and to get/keep their buy in.

With all the services out there no one is unknown these days. You think you’re hiding players lol.

Do people think someone will see a player and go wow we need to buy him lol. They know all the players via information out there.

And technically there is no contact with the player if enrolled at a school.

Not to mention, you can’t transfer inter conference during the Spring. It’s a tin foil accusation/excuse/conspiracy that the Big 12, Big 10 or ACC is watching spring games, use the results of a practice scrimmage as a measure of production, etc.

What’s important is that no one questioned Sark, and accepted his reasons with no debate at horn.

Not important. We don’t need the money. We don’t need anything. Except other school’s fans to worry about their own mess

What money? You guys charge to attend the spring game? We make money off concessions only, and that goes to student organizations. Plus the business we give the Bryan College Station community with all the parents.

But you’re in Austin, so it’s kinda different I guess.

Canceling the spring game is a no go!! If that’s the road we’re headed down, college football will truly be lost.

It’s already lost. At this point I'm all for treating it like a professional league, including taxing profits of the business and employees.

You do understand you can’t have a team game ready without scrimmaging, right? Playing a meaningless spring game is wear and tear that’s unnecessary 5 months before the season even kicks off.

You’re going to play the scrimmage anyways in practice. making it private vs public is the change. We don’t even charge for Spring Games so I don’t understand why that is even a talking point. I laughed when Colorado charged for theirs to make money off Deion. We all make enough money already.

This is coaches trying to mitigate the spring portal.

The portal opens at the end of spring practice for a reason. The Spring Game should have nothing to do with it. The 2 deep at the end of Spring will decide who leaves in the Spring, and not having a 2 deep and keeping players in ambiguity will probably lead to 1st/2nd teamers transferring out instead of 3rd stringers.

It will be fun to watch.
