Why can’t the rivalry continue as an annual non-conference game like UGA-Ga Tech or UF-FSU?

This. I have never understood why the game had to come to an end. If you ask either team they both blame each other but also seem to have no interest in continuing.

Not on the same national level, but Mizzou vs ku was pure hatred every year. I am glad its scheduled in the future, just not until 2025.

Texas trying to dominate the relationship. Leveraged that game as a reason not to leave and don't want to address a competitive difference in the programs.
TAMU to sec was huge and given the events since the pac12 and Big12 have further diminished.
Sec has a strong share of Texas tv market without the prima Donna program in that state.
Gene Stallings and the TAMU board were brilliant.
