quote:I can't believe someone as successful as Saban is dumb/illogical enough to make such a ridiculous statement. You would think he was smarter than that.
If you smoke one cigarette, do you have the same chances of getting cancer if you smoke 20? I guess there's no study that specifically says that. But logically, we would say, 'Yeah, there probably is'
If the analogy holds true, then the act of playing football itself is inherently unhealthy and smoking 60 cigarettes instead of 80 isn't the answer.

When a simple mind can't verbalize their thoughts, making pictures is a good idea.

"The fastball guys (up-tempo coaches) say there's no data out there, and I guess you have to use some logic," Saban told ESPN. "What's the logic? But logically, we would say, 'Yeah, there probably is.'"
Yeah. I disagree.

@Andy_Staples: Here’s the problem with the more plays = more risk argument. If it’s that risky, you’ll reach the point where only 0 plays is safe.

Saban is playing you people. This is not about a 10 second rule or injuries. This is about making officials dictate the pace of the game and adding another official. 10 second rule is nothing compared to that. Saban got what he wanted while playing the Saban haters. It's like slapping a ***ch and her loving it because she "got over on you".

Well logic says smoking one cigarette is safer than 20, so it is equally as logical that you should limit sex, running, lifting weights because all have injuries.

Saban is talking about the course of the season. Those extra plays add up to playing about 3-4 more games.
So that is a good point he makes. He's not talking about one game.
So you add 4 extra games to the 12 and then maybe a CCG and then the bowl or playoffs now.
So what do NFL teams often do? They rest their stars for the last regular season game or two. Not just because they don't want someone to get injured in those games but because of wear and tear.
Sorry that doesn't fit into your incorrect straw man arguments.

What does the 10 second rule do to change the number of plays?

Why stop at all? Why have whistles. Why have downs? Let's just fast break all game long. All 22 should stay out there and run around till somebody scores.
There's my straw man.
There's my straw man.
