That’s with 2 years of a completely inept Morehead. And a year of transforming this team to a passing team with a freshman and now sophomore qb. Now. Everyone said Mississippi State was what was holding Mullen back. Was that true? Since he had roughly the same results in a much harder side of the conference??
Record don’t lie. Y’all can keep saying Moo St is “much better off” without Mullen but numbers don’t lie.

Jackie Sherrill was always good for a 8-2 or 7-3 season back then. If I remember correctly he coached at aTm and Washington also probably one more in addition to that.

We fired a coach y’all never beat so you should stop deluding yourself with the notion that Leach was a knee jerk response to Kiffin. Cohen hired him because he goofed on Moorhead.

Actually Croom was not that bad. He cleaned up a mess (and the program was a disaster in 2002-03) and left a great foundation in place and had recruited extremely well. Mullen had quite a number of NFL players on the roster in 2009/10/11/12 that were Croom’s recruits.
Actually we are 24-23 since CDM left. The on the field results are all that matter. This BS of forfeiting and vacating wins is absolutely pathetic IMO. Plus the NCAA is and has been a total joke for decades now.
All that said I am glad we have Leach . Underneath all that crust and dry humor is a dang good coach. I think a lot of people misunderstand and think the Air Raid is a finesse offense. It is not and we are a physical football team. We have regained our physically that we lost under Moorhead.
I am excited about the future but understand we still have a ways to go to get to the top but we are definitely trending in the right direction.

So you make fun of Oke Miss vacating wins but it doesn’t count for your team.

That narrative has always been silly.
If we had the opportunity to one up Ole Miss, we’d do it and take credit for it, but that’s not what happened.
Cohen ran a reasonable coaching search both rounds post Mullen and made decisions based on the current state of the program.
With Leach, the program was not headed in a good direction and we needed an overhaul, and he’s all about overhauls.. That’s why he was picked.

Croom inherited a program with major talent and recruiting problems and managed to keep us from some of the collapses we’ve seen from Tenn, Ark, and SC recently.
His offense was frustrating to watch, but he was doing the best he could with what he had.

Mullen’s first two years at State 14-11; the Pirate is 10-11. That’s after inheriting Joe Morehead’s dismal roster. I see the Pirate eclipsing Mullens record there in no time. Meanwhile the rest of us in the conference get to enjoy his true genius in post game pressers. The difference is we laugh at Mullen and laugh with Leach.

No I think it is stupid across the board.
Egg Bowl on the field
is
OM 63
State 48
Ties 6
That to me is what the record should reflect.

This is sad. Dude, they have one of the youngest teams in the nation with a possible future Heisman hopeful at QB. Give it up. They are trending up and we're about to fire the HC youre praising

Uhhh. Are you advocating for Mullen here?
We are dead even with Dan’s 2nd year here in Leach’s 2nd year. And Dan had more NFL players on roster. Leach has shattered school offensive records with a sophomore qb that Dan couldn’t set with a senior Dak Prescott.
Leach will be in his second bowl in two years while Mullen was in his first in his second. Why 1st in his second? Because he pissed away the 2009 LSU game on a bonehead play call. Sound familiar?
So.. uhh… yea. The numbers don’t lie.

What was Moo St’s record in 08?

1 single win short of Dans first year. With Croom as coach. Why?

How many ranked wins did Mullen have his first years at State? That’s all I give a shite about, I don’t care that he beat SELA and Kentucky every year.

First year coaching records are extremely relevant predictors for overall coaching quality... Especially if you are implementing a vastly different scheme than the prior staff. /s
