Where did I indicate that I thought you guys were cheating and where did I indicate that my hopes lay in that theory?

One of the most interesting things about Chizik to me is that no one seems to have anything bad to say about him and he seems to have no dirty laundry or controversy attached to him.

You could replace Chizik with Shula here....

Did I say the word cheat? Is it my fault that Dye was very instrumental in Chiz's hire? Or that Dye and Blakeney both were forced out at Auburn for paying players, or that Dye still has an office at the University, or that Chiz openly claims their friendship and associates with them? Heck.. I'm just glad we disassociated the boosters that were guilty in our case. I couldn't imagine what it woulda been like had coaches been guilty at Bama, much less if we let them hang around and make hiring decisions.

I look at it like this. Chizik and saban are both two damn good coaches.

End of story.

Here, I thought?

If I'm wrong, sorry. I'm not an Auburn-hater. I do have a problem with some constantly making claims about Gadsden, Chargers, etc.

I don't want to lose to Auburn, but beyond that wish them no ill will. Hell, the dumb side of my family went to Auburn.

Yes, I agree. Shula has a lot of class.

I didn't imply that had anything to do with Bear Bryant cheating....just that Shug put up with a lot.....

I could mean any number of things by that.....perhaps I was referencing biased media coverage, for instance.....

so we already know he understands defense as well as Saban. Probably better actually as Saban is pretty basic and seems to just operate off of the "out-talent them" page of the coaching manual.

Wow. Just wow.

You really need to do some fact checking on that.

Saban is the premiere secondary coach in college football.

1. The secondary is not the only part of a defense

2. Chizik is a better db's coach than saban. This will be readily apparent in about 3 more years.

I'm not about to get in a pissing contest here so I'll just say that I'm proud to have Gene Chizik representing the Auburn University football teams.

Dude. Seriously?

Look I believe Pat Dye, Bobby Lowder, and Jay Jacobs did one hell of a job in hiring Gene Chizik. I think he is a very good coach who is a great fit for Auburn and will be successful to an extent.

Some of these claims are just incredulous though.

Saban was a forerunner of pattern read concepts in the secondary. His blitz schemes are/were seen as cutting edge in coaching circles.

I like Gene Chizik but you really need to get a grip.

I'll bet ANY Auburn fan $1,000 that Chizik won't win a National Championship in his first 5 years. Any takers?

Tom, what is your prediction for the wins and losses that the Auburn football team will achieve on the field this fall?

Damn right.

I would not trade him for any other coach in the SEC right now either. And no I am not kidding.
