Big 12. They created a network just for them. Not sharing the revenue with conference. Unequal funding. They received a bigger portion of the revenue money from the conference than the other schools.
All of which were enabled by the rules which TAMU voted for.
ESPN handed us a bucket of cash and a network. TAMU would've turned that down? No way.

All of this was legal and aboveboard tho, and everybody had Tier 3 revenue rights.

Oh, that reminds me of something I read several years ago in either Jackie Sherrill’s book or an article written about him. Can’t remember which one it was. But, he said that Texas was trying to do the same thing to A&M that they did to SMU once Jackie arrived as coach and A&M eventually started beating Texas every year. He said that Texas had over 80 private detective types on the payroll that were being paid to spy on A&M coaches, players, other A&M athletic personnel, etc. And even their families. Some wild shite!

Yes, Texas destroyed the SWC because SMU cheated. The 1987 death penalty caused the SWC to collapse 7 years later.
Definitely wasn't because it was a conference comprised of 3 decent programs and 6 also-rans, all but 1 (who then left) from a single state. At the beginning of the TV era where only people from Texas or Arkansas would watch the games on TV.
It's always Texas.

I’m not going to do the research for you when the internet is available for everyone. The gist of it was that Texas was tired of sharing revenue with the rest of the conference. They like what they saw from the money the independent schools at the time were making (Penn State and Notre Dame). They didn’t feel they should have to share revenue with the other schools in the conference. So they did what they’re doing now and bolted the conference to join the Big 12 which was the Big 8 at the time. Which ultimately brought the SWC to an end. Of course A&M, Baylor, and Texas Tech followed them. Long story short it was all about the money and Texas’s arrogance. They’re actually doing the same thing now. It’s all about the money. A lot more to it but I’m not gonna take the time to type it all out.

Fan of school that left the SWC for money accuses Texas of killing the SWC by leaving the SWC for money.
These people, man. Absolutely eaten up with bad bad Texas.

Bucket of cash is hard to turn down, agreed.
But there’s waaaaay more to the issue than that.
One example: They were originally going to leverage the LHN to become an illegal recruiting advantage by showing Texas HS games that primarily featured Texas recruits. They gave up on that once it became public.

Y’all are so desperate for attention and relevance and yet it hasn’t happened in over 80 years.

I think this is laughable.
Frick the big ten.
They tried to kill college football in 2020 and I just won’t forget that. I also won’t forget that they ignored their own rules in the chase for a championship by propping up Ohio state.
Ags going there would sever my emotional ties to my university and I’d become a Ronin within college football.

Or are there none others that fit your narrative?

You have to accept the fact that y’all got caught. Y’all have some Longhorn lover over at ESPN who got waaay out in front of his skis on this.

Got caught? You mean signed a contract and then never did any of the nefarious things y’all claim?
The persecution complex aggies have is truly next level. Might be the only thing yall are actually better than everyone else at lol

Dude admitted the plan live in an interview.
Surely you’re not this dense in real life.

I’m still wondering how Texas was “caught” doing something they never did?
Were you ever going to provide us another one of the “many advantages” that were unfair that the LHN offered. Should be easy to give us some more if there are so many…

Honestly, I think that's pretty small potatoes, and hardly the best argument TAMU has for "it's Texas's fault."
That belongs to Deloss apparently keeping Byrne/Bowtie in the dark while negotiating with the PAC. Which always sounded funny to me because somehow Colorado knew Baylor was angling to take their place, which is why they immediately went to the PAC. But somehow TAMU was blindsided by this.
The relationship between leadership at both schools was probably quite frayed. Nebraska and Colorado were gone. TAMU had nothing to lose by pursuing the SEC, the conference you wanted to join all along.

Yeah, you sound like a “keep wondering” type of kid.
Or the “explain it to me like I’m five” laziness.
Maybe you are too young to have any context on the situation. I don’t care. Doesn’t matter to me.
