At a course with several guys who are attending from Japan. One from Misawa, one from Yokota, and one from Okinawa. All rave over it.
I would rank them 1) Yokota, 2) Misawa, and 3) Okinawa. Yokota for centrality, Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, and so on. Misawa is going to be cold. Oki is going to make you island crazy and the locals are not big military fans.
Just be aware of all the curfews and other problems they are having over there right now. If you can't get Japan you can do a 1 year tour at Kunsan or Osan over in Korea and have a good time.

At Kadena AFB down on Okinawa there were several run ins between locals and different military personnel. One included a prostitute and some Navy pilots, another with some Marines beating up some locals, and an Air Force guy beating up a 13 year old kid in a house he broke in to.
Anyway, this was during a time when the Japanese Defense Force and the Japanese people have been not thrilled with some of the weapons systems we're putting in place over there.
A curfew has been put in place at all 3 Air Force bases there to keep personnel on base after 11. It makes it a little less fun than it could be.
