Are you really suggesting that environment didn't have anything to do with it? They had a fricking murderer playing TE for them. He was a model citizen after leaving Gainesville. If buying a stolen laptop was the worst thing he did, he was better off than a lot of that team.
I think Cam made a juvenile mistake with the laptop while at UF. I think Cecil was so demanding and controlling that he pulled his son out of a bad environment and he sent him to Blinn CC.
I also think Cecil wanted Cam close to home (Auburn) and wanted him coached by a Christian man (Chizik) in a family type/low key atmosphere with men (Tim Jackson) watching Cam like a hawk and keeping him out of trouble. I don't buy into the notion that Cecil got paid, I don't doubt that he listened to offers. But I just think Cecil saw Cam's talent & potential and wanted to ensure he didn't screw around and ruin his life making poor decisions off the field.
I'm a parent of college age kids, and I've watched their high school classmates go off to college and get their asses yanked back home because they couldn't stay out of trouble of some kind or another.

Environment had nothing to do with it. Once again, Tim Tebow was on that same team.
Nor did he leave Florida because he was worried about such things.
Auburn fans are delusional. I guess this is the stuff I've missed not living in Alabama the past 10 years. I had no idea Auburn fans were living in such a fantasy world.

Maybe. I was posting on a forum that had a lot of SEC hate. So I spent more time defending SEC teams against really stupid claims than trash talking other SEC fans(although it happened a little).
It is kind of nice getting to shite talk other SEC teams again.

The fact of the matter is - people find the type of culture they want to be around regardless of where they go.
The entire notion that there is only 1 single type of culture for someone to cling to anywhere is laughable.
I've moved around a good bit in my youth and it didn't matter where I went, I generally found the same type of crowd.
Auburn had 4 players kicked off the team the year after Cam for robbing some trailer for example. Is that entirety of the Auburn culture, or is that just what some players did? I'll bet you can quickly name some Auburn players who went to church and did the right things can't you? Do you think they don't exist at Florida? Was Tim Tebow just like sitting in a corner all day scared shitless while he was there?
I've lived all over an the same opportunities exist everywhere. The cultures you find when entering adulthood is the decision you make in most cases.
And that's what Tim Tebow shows. Stop passing the buck and take responsibility.
