Alabama absolutely made Saban. LSU showed us all what he could potentially become if he was given the chance to coach at a blue blood program. When he arrived in Tuscaloosa, his career winning percentage was below 67%.

He's won close to 87% of his games since arriving at Alabama in 2007. While LSU showed us he was a good coach, Alabama turned him into a legend.

He was in the NFL in the late 80's early 90's bUT he wasn't a HC and he didn't have the input of a HC when it came to player personnel decisions.

It was a huge benefit for him to be a HC in the NFL and
it did change his CFB coaching philosophy especially when it came to recruiting.
