You could still be correct that is what the states portion is and than the rest is boosters, radio, etc. Cause now that you mention it I think his total base overall did get to 5 mil and was a big deal at the time.

So why did he let the staff hang a poster from the Auburn game? Maybe because losing to Auburn is a little more important than losing to USC. I remember hearing his speech before the 36-0 Iron Bowl and he said something like "You need to realize that people in this state equate the success of your season realative to the outcome of this game". I get your point, but to downplay the significance of the Auburn game is short-sided IMO.

because that happens to be the team that Alabama gave up a 24 pt lead to. I am not saying there isnt extra motivation for players to beat the instate rival but according to the former players I have heard there is no particular hate like the fans have. Most of the hate is between fans; the players or many of them will likely play together in the NFL maybe on the same team and pull for one another to do well. They have a much healthier version of this rivalry than the fans do. But imo if this had been any other team that they lost too after having a 24 pt lead it would have been that team.

I get what you're saying. And I'm not talking about hate. In fact I don't think I've mentioned hate once. I'm talking about importance...and according to the former and current players I know, they all know how important the game is. My original post was to state that the poster can be about both the importance of the game and the importance of giving up a huge lead.

yes it can; I just hope that Alabam doesnt start measuring the success of their season based on that game. I am not from Alabama so I realize I dont understand the level of the rivalry and I think that a lot of the hatred is really silly, but I it upset me more that they lost that game with that lead because before the game when looking at ot objectively I thought Auburn would win. I will admit that it aggravated me because I really tink Alabama was the better team; Auburn had the best player but I had stated if Bama held him to under a 100yds of rushing they would win and I was wrong.

Auburn best player did not take the field for defense....Bama was the better team for most of the first half and than Auburn took over. Sorry I just had to chime in on that.

If that were the case, why is it orange and blue, with a picture of two Auburnites on it right over the Auburn score? Why are there no references to the other two losses?

Because it was the only game we blew a 24 point lead?

So, to sum you up...

1. Because of one half of football, Nick Saban is a horrible defensive coach.

I never said that. Where did I say that? I said that half was undeniably horrible, and defensive geniuses should be able to hold a 24 point lead.

2. You'd rather have Miles as your coach because you believe he's a better coach than Nick Saban.

I never said that either. You can't read very well. All things considered, I'd rather have Miles, but I never said he was a better coach.

I think bammer will likely open the season ranked higher.

But if LSU beats Oregon, they'll jump up near the top and stay there until they lose.

If it works as well as that idiot S&C coach you guys have got jumping up and down on the sideline, I'm looking forward to seeing the results on the field.

You need to re-watch the 2008 Iron Bowl and listen closely to what Saban was reportedly telling his players on the sideline, re: Auburn.
