There are hungry attorneys that would take the case at a discount.
Firewater plus a low IQ is a dangerous thing.
Looked like the girl tried to stop him sorta..
Low IQ should be plural, but yea
The victim sues Krystal and then things really will start to happen.

Description of Straw Man
The Straw Man fallacy is committed when a person simply ignores a person's actual position and substitutes a distorted, exaggerated or misrepresented version of that position. This sort of "reasoning" has the following pattern:
Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.
This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because attacking a distorted version of a position simply does not constitute an attack on the position itself. One might as well expect an attack on a poor drawing of a person to hurt the person.
Examples of Straw Man
Prof. Jones: "The university just cut our yearly budget by $10,000."
Prof. Smith: "What are we going to do?"
Prof. Brown: "I think we should eliminate one of the teaching assistant positions. That would take care of it."
Prof. Jones: "We could reduce our scheduled raises instead."
Prof. Brown: " I can't understand why you want to bleed us dry like that, Jones."
"Senator Jones says that we should not fund the attack submarine program. I disagree entirely. I can't understand why he wants to leave us defenseless like that."
Bill and Jill are arguing about cleaning out their closets:
Jill: "We should clean out the closets. They are getting a bit messy."
Bill: "Why, we just went through those closets last year. Do we have to clean them out everyday?"

The video shows a contingent of red-clad Alabama fans. If that makes it "an Alabama thing," so be it.
Personally, I think it speaks more about the late night clientele at Kyrystal than anything else.

What Cyde says:
What I ACTUALLY said for 30 pages while I was called EVERY name in the book:
My comments on the Harvey Updyke Narrative are comments that it EXISTS and there is a reason why. This thread is an excellent example. But it is in Cyde's interests to misrepresent my comments/take them out of context because he is a fundamentally dishonest person and will do/say anything to defend his beloved team. He's cool with public teabagging, because it was a guy wearing the Crimson. And the messenger must be smeared/discredited by any means necessary. End of story. Nothing to see here. Everybody move along. Harvey who ?

What I'm doing is deriding Lsupimp for so transparently trying to turn the entire thing into an Alabama/Harvey Updyke thing.
What I ACTUALLY said for 30 pages while I was called EVERY name in the book:
quote:
I refuse to believe that the reaction of the Bama fans on this thread is indicative of most Bama fans.
specifically did NOT flame Bama fans with this or say this was typical of Alabama fans.
Then 75% of them on this thread proceded to try to demonstrate/claim that this WAS typical of Alabama fans...
Having MANY Gump friends, some on this board, I know this is NOT the norm.
Since Alabama COMPLETELY & ARTFULLY skullf**ed LSU I have given nothing but WELL DESERVED PROPS to Alabama. Do you have me confused with somebody else? And I have been VERY careful to not paint with a broad brush in this thread and attempt to tar Bama fans. Quite the opposite in fact, I have complimented those who have been fair and reasonable.
Congrats .
It seemed much worse than that.
I still can't believe our D kept it that close.
Of course I said that on the SEC scoreboard minutes after the game,so i don't want to repeat myself too much...
So your theory is I put it here to IMFLAME anti-Gump passions ?
I tried to do exactly the opposite, to keep it to THE PERP and not take shots at bama.

Do you want to go there Bella, with your guy Hightower stomping player and beating women? Nah, no big deal, you got the trophy.

How did I distort the point?
Posted on 1/15/12 at 5:22 pm to Lsupimp
I just feel like part of your criticism is in saying that we took it lightly. But you've dismissed and taken lightly the same kinds of statements. If you are going to call out one group of people, you need to call out the other. Otherwise, your motivations look misdirected and it sullies your point.

And then you suddenly abandoned this position in favor of... what was it you called it?
The Harvey Updyke Narrative?
Go back and re-read my first reply to you specifically. If you'd kept Updyke and "Gumps" and "The Turrible Tide Teabagging Turdition" and all that other stupid shite out of your rhetoric, I might have taken it seriously.
You couldn't, and that led me to believe that you didn't take your own rhetoric seriously either.

Nah we'd rather not get into your imagination right now. And good luck with your starting qb next year. Y'all better have a backup ready to go if you play in a bowl game in Valdosta, GA next year. FYI, Dude is banned from ever stepping foot in that town again.

I'm merely pointing out that it happens with your fans too. There is no moral superiority, and I don't assign that moralistic travesty to your entire group of people. I am one of the people who thinks all of the SEC teams have the same proportion of good and bad fans, and I resent blanket implications.
So, it's fine if you want to go there. I have no problem acknowledging that the correlation exists everywhere.

Did Mettenburger put his balls in the face of an unconscious gal? I don't think so. Do I condone whatever he did? No.
Now, here's the point of this discussion. Some folks downplay what the guy did b/c his/their team just won a big game. When you have people who poison historic trees, and put their balls on another guy's face, you have problems. You can try to deflect attention from the problem, or, you can try to be part of the solution. Alabama's football team, won ... great! Doesn't make you a better person and doesn't give you the right to put your balls on someone's face. YOU did nothing. The fact you celebrate "your" team's win in this manner , i.e., balls on face, is incomprehensibly sick and perverted to me. If you guys would just admit there's a problem, we'd be fine.

You have NO frickING right to decide what crime is worse. You have no idea what it's like to have someone touch you inappropriately and be scared that he might do something worse, because he is bigger than you, and then worry that if you tell someone that they won't do anything because the guy is regarded as a commodity in the community. Then to see people saying that it's alright to keep doing it.
So why don't you take that to bed with balls on your fricking face before you determine what is better or worse. Both are bad. And in the meantime, you can shove your moral superiority up your arse. Your insensitivity and inability to grasp what we are saying, all while casting judgment is indicative of someone without any awareness whatsoever.

Yep, sick frickers who just happen to root for the same team I do. I heard Ted Bundy was a big time Gator fan...

I don't know...I yelled loudly at games and gave monetarily...but on the field, you are correct.

Alright. The dude that did this is a fricking clown and should face some consequence for his actions...just like anyone else convicted of committing a crime.

I've taken pains NOT to do that.
I've called out SPECIFIC people and certain mindsets .
I think WE are in agreement.
The Harvey Updyke Narrative of Bama fans as unhinged zealots was not created by me. It was created by Harvey Updyke, guys like the Tide Teabagger, and those who spend the better part of a day defending HIM and smearing me for posting a link to HIS actions. I hear it referred to on Brando and Finebaum almost every day,it's significant enough that there was a recent documentary on ESPN about it's excesses, but OK-If it's an unpardonable sin to ACKNOWLEDGE it's freakin existence, and talk about WHY it exists, then so be it....
