The south will rise again!

But, if the Big 10 goes after FSU or Miami, the SEC may snatch up the Noles just to keep the Big 10 from getting them.

Don't be ridiculous. VT wouldn't have come anyway at the time (maybe now), and don't ignore Missouri's huge population.
Thanks there, Kaiser.

Yes they are, and it doesn't matter where they end up either. No possible way they end up together in expansion. Just not going to happen...
UNC/Duke have actually made a pact to stay in the same conference. They are determined to not split up at all costs.

you are one whiney arse pussy.

Conference expansion sucks, but if we add teams, those two would be great additions. They are actually located in southeastern states!

no way in hell is UNC leaving the ACC or Duke. UNC is to the ACC what tu is to the big 12, what bama is to the SEC, they run that bitch
So, they are willing to leave $40+ mil/yr in tv and bowl revenue on the table to be in a second-rate dying conference?
The difference between UNC and the other schools is Texas didn't stand to financially lose by staying. If anything, they gained, because they got to keep the LHN.
The difference between the Big12 and the ACC is that the Big12 still had a shitload of quality football teams and prestigious programs... All those are about to be cherrypicked from the ACC.
UNC is gone when FSU/Clemson/Ga Tech bolt...Count on it.

The big 10 is long reputed as having a love affair with academics. Why the hell would they want FSU if that is indeed true?

VT did something even the Redskins couldn't do before RGIII. Sell out Fed Ex Field.

I like the SEC the way it is now. They don't need to keep adding all these other schools.

I doubt will happen, the SEC will wait out the big ten and see what it does, we win no matter what. The SEC knows the UNC coaches and fanbase and boosters want the SEC. The SEC will not take nc state until UNC has left for the big ten, no way no how. Actually believe UVA and UNC will head to the SEC. That way the academic folks are happy but the perfect thing to happen would be Va tech and UNC to the SEC... Another win for the SEC would be Duke or NC state and Va tech to the SEC. SEC waiting in the cat bird seat waiting ont he big ten and big 12... Slive is the man...

Link?
I've paid as much attention and have as good of understanding of this as anyone. The only POSSIBLE way they stay together is if UNC stays with them in a dying ACC. When $40mil+ is on the table, old loyalties go out the window.
UNC fans would warm up to a UK rivalry so fast it would blow your mind. They could still play Duke OOC - just like UK plays Louisville.

Guess that means bama gets another bridge yr to play UK & Miz yet again?
We're already scheduled to play Virginia Tech in Atlanta.

I don't get it. We should get UNC instead.
And maybe Virginia over Va Tech. Va Tech so low rent.
UNC will never leave Duke, UVA & Wake Forest. They are also interested in several sports not in SEC focus; lacrosse (mens & womens), soccer(mens & womens), mens wrestling and womens crew.

The scenario goes like this:
The SEC currently does not want FSU because they want to expand their market. They do not want duplicate markets
But, the Big 10 may decide to abandon its academic standard to compete and remain viable, and would go after FSU to get into the Florida market.
If (and that's a big if) that happened, the SEC would then take FSU just to prevent the BIG 10 from entering that market. And FSU would rather join the SEC than the Big 10 given the choice.
