Scholarship caps should be lowered, not raised, if you want more parity and opportunities for the kids.

Blackpwnmartry not smart person.

If these people cared about the kids and getting an education they wouldn't put a restriction on the # of scholarships and let the schools decide on how many they can give. This would drastically increase the # of kids who get scholarships. Then they could make it easy for kids to transfer who feel they are stuck behind too many players and want to play at a different school instead.

Oh hell no. History saw what happened when the NCAA allowed Bama unlimited scholarships.

But, in all seriousness, would this mean that teams could not pay "consultants" for "professional services" ?

Nope. Headline is totally false. The proposal is about limits on the people who can recruit on campus. Nothing more.

There should be a 125 cap on scholarships. Still 25 per year. And 5 years of eligibility.

Yea,Let's go back to days of hording players and best buddy scholarships.Oh,BTW at most schools your gonna have to come with more women's sports to match the additional 40 scholarships.Good luck with fielding new teams and facilities that are gonna do nothing but lose money every single year.

I think schools should have scholarships available for 3 deep at every position, plus four flex positions like kickers.

70 scholarships.

I do think 5 years of eligibility is reasonable. The students should be able to take 12 hours instead of 15 because of the demands of being a student athlete.

Eliminate redshirting altogether. Medical hardships go to NCAA on case by case basis.

No cap on a signing class. You sign what your cap space allows.

Grayshirt Rule = If a scholarship is offered to a recruit, and he/she accepts the scholarship, signs, but on/during/after signing day there isn't room, the kid still gets on scholarship but it takes away from the next year's cap.

Ole Miss proved you can do wonders with a HC, a few prostitutes and a Credit Card.

Bear Bryant may have signed more players than others, but he would play more too. They would, during the wishbone days, run 65 70 or more out there in every game. He might play 3 QB's and waves of RB's. Two full OL's. A bunch of folks on D.

Kinda light if the injury bug strikes and not much room for mistakes on player evaluations.Maybe 75 or 80

This would definitely level the playing field.Once again, you better be spot on with player evaluations. It and obviously puts coaching and teaching at a premium.

I don't think player evaluation is a big problem. All the big schools are going after the same players.

Regarding the injury bug, if you are down to your 3rd string player at a position, you are fricked either way.

Just to clear any confusion, I'm not advocating that the scholarships are based on position, just that 70 total allows for 3-deep at every position plus four extras.

Yea,I imagine scholarships based on posistions would be
Pretty difficult for coaches especially in talent rich states. No way coaches pass up a legit blue chip just because the "posistions scholarships" are full.

Won't affect Ole Miss. All their recruiting activities take place in hotel rooms.

Well bless is heart.

Bear signed "more players" because it gave him an advantage over his competition and gave him his best
best chance to win games and championships PERIOD.

BTW it also helped to have guys sitting his bench rather than being on the other teams roster.
