No. There is too much money involved for those schools that would be considered for the downgrade. Their schools would lose too much money.

They need to rethink Division 1 in general. Only 40-50 teams really matter in the big scheme of things

Who cares. They will adjust. By your line of thought, why not just do away with subdivisions altogether.

That's an easy one; OU lost a 3-point game to a ranked Texas team and then beat that same Texas team in their conference championship game by 12. OSU lost to an unranked Purdue team that finished 6-6 by 29 points. Both teams each beat 3 teams that finished in the committee's top 25...OSU had two close wins (within 1 score) against teams with losing records, OU had one...
OU avenged their only loss of the season...in fact the committee could say that the 4 selected playoff teams each beat every team on their schedule...
That being said, I think OSU would be evenly matched with OU head-to-head, but OU still had a better resume...

I'd actually want to see that as a play-in game. OSU manhandled a Michigan with a highly ranked defense and mediocre offense (though obviously the question of how much of this was the fact that it's Michigan and a rivalry game). Wonder what they'd do against an OU team with a highly ranked offense and a defense that is basically Bumbles the Clown.
