Reinstatement decisions are independent of the NCAA enforcement process and typically are made once the facts of the student-athlete’s involvement are determined. The reinstatement process is likely to conclude prior to the close of an investigation. It is NCAA policy not to comment on current, pending or potential investigations
This is an important part, or the NCAA's self imposed stay of execution. They know its fricked up and the verdict will ultimately be guilty across the board. This gives them the time they need to get all their shite in order and also suppresses the masses for the time being. There's a lot of ins and outs man....i mean.....new information has come to light.

Lets look at a hypothetical situation: LSU was recruiting PP7. PP7's brother contacts a booster and asks for money. Does that make PP7 ineligible?
depends if the brother convince him to go to the giving school.

It should. Especially if the brother made his choice of school for him.

Did PP7 put his recruitment in the hands of his brother? Did he let his brother make the decision for him after all of this went on?
Slightly different case with your cheaterback.

Wow... just wow! Rule violations are found and absolutely no penalty is enforce! Amazing!
I realize that something may come down the pike later but that is beside the point. That is a different issue. AU and the NCAA have both agreed that violations occurred and both decide to shrug their shoulders and pretend like nothing happened! WOW!

Not ot mention the fact that with Auburn declaring
him ineligible for an offense that happened last year, he should then have been ineligible for all the games he played in so far-after all, he was just reinstated today right?

Not really surprising. Currently there isn't enough evidence to implicate Cam or Auburn so he shouldn't be in trouble. But the investigation is still ongoing so I won't be the least bit surprised if something is found out about AU. I feel bad for all of you that were expecting something conclusive to come out before the SEC champ. game. This is still a long way from over

Is this a joke? Or just a stop gap measure to cover all parties involved azze's. If Rev Cecil asked Mississippi State for money why wouldn't he have asked Auburn? Doesn't make sense. He might have just covered his tracks a little better.
Don't think the investigation is over. Sooner or later if Cecil recieved money, someone other than the NCAA likely another Federal Agency who is looking the dealings of Colonial Bank will discover some accounting shortcomings than Cecil showed on his taxes then it will be hell to pay. Maybe.
Cam is a great college football player, I am in awe of his skills. Where will he play next season?

quote:Yes to all of it based on prior precedent set by the NCAA. In 1995 Damon Staudamire was ruled ineligible by the NCAA b/c his father accepted a plane ticket from an agent even though Damon and all coaches involved were ADAMANT that they did not know. In 2008 Andre Smith was ruled ineligible b/c his uncle talked with an agent supposedly on Andre's behalf even though he said he didn't know he was doing it. Reggie Bush was stripped of a Heisman trophy, USC stripped of a BCSNC, and put on probation because his parents accepted benefits even though he said he knew nothing about it. So yes based on those 3 cases, and there are probably MANY more just like it, it's a violation because ALL of them were acting on the player's behalf even though they said they didn't know about it.
Say what?
Lets look at a hypothetical situation: LSU was recruiting PP7. PP7's brother contacts a booster and asks for money. Does that make PP7 ineligible?
What about a cousin? A nephew, an uncle, grandfather....so on.
Also keep this in mind, ALL of Bama's textbook crew were declared eligible to play and were reinstated by the NCAA during the 2007 season. It was after the investigation was complete that we were forced to vacate wins and put on probation.

This is just absurd. Season ticket prices will be going up next year.

Auburn isn't out of the woods yet... First, the investigation is still on-going, and second...
I still think this will end badly for Auburn when all the facts come out. Once they start interviewing the Auburn recruits that decided to go to other schools... that's when the fun will start.

The decision to allow Cam to be eligible after being found guilty is such a crock of shite. frick the NCAA and frick the SEC!!! They see nothing but dollar signs with an Oregon vs. Auburn ship. For this reason alone, I hope USCe beats Auburn and fricks that all up.

Won't Happen...
All this did was tell every recruit how to beat the system and the NCAA cannot do anything about it now.

Auburn will lose to South Car. and whoever they play in a bowl ....they have to be the worst football team I've seen in many a year to be ranked this high...this late.....I've never seen a luckier team in my life. Bama 21-24 pts. better....that was obvious til' they got complacent....LUCK WILL RUN OUT

When all is said and done, I fully support Auburn University in this whole affair. They took the high road. They ruled Newton ineligible yesterday and I wholeheartedly agree with them. Shame on you NCAA for coming in and overturning what Auburn so rightfully did.
(Sarcasm alert).
Oh BTW, great PR year for Auburn football. Theirs Camgate or take your pick with your DL - if they aren't fighting, they are slamming QBs in the back or doing the high schoolish "scrape your helmet up the QBs face so as to inflict as much damage as you can".
How does it feel to be Auburn against the world?
