Dude,

Just in recent history Eisenhower, JFK (twice), LBJ (5 times), George HW Bush, all federalized and deployed National Guard troops, in many cases even though the governors objected.

And if you don't believe a thug sticking a pistol to your chest demanding your wallet, is a federal violation, you needs to study civics. Even in "good" areas the thugs are breaking into people's cars or stealing them out of their driveways. The crime situation is totally out of control in Memphis.

Every family member I have who lives in Memphis packs heat because the crime is so bad.

You sure about that?

20 years ago we had National Guardsmen at every passenger airport and in New Orleans after Katrina because the local authorities were overwhelmed. All while the majority of Army combat forces in Iraq were National Guard.

Atlanta

Atlanta has a mayor, DA, and police chief that are actually tough on crime and have a bail system. It's cities like Chicago and others with woke DA's/mayors/police chiefs who don't enforce law and when someone does get arrested, they walk out with no bail, and also defund police bullshite. Atlanta has none of that. The leaders are democrats, and wokeish, but not like the other big cities that are completely lost.

I get the whole conservative/libertarian position when it comes to this type of thing. Normally, I'm right there with you. But this is different. Our cities are being taken over by criminals. Elected officials are turning their backs and not doing their jobs. The president refuses to let this country rot from within and be taken over by a bunch of socialist thug criminals.

Good for him.

I took the wrong exit in Memphis the night before the Liberty bowl in 2021 and things looked ugly quickly.

Liberty Bowl is right north of Orange Mound. Not the best place to make a wrong turn.

I've never been there, but the Warrior Poets known as Juicy J, Project Pat, and DJ Paul seem to give me this impression.

This. I used to live in Memphis and it’s city government is a cesspool of corruption.

This is the current DA of Memphis:

Steve Mulroy

I know people who studied law under him at the University of Memphis. He’s an open Communist

Sorry but calling out your bs.

Under 10 U.S.C. § 12406, The President may call members and units of any State’s National Guard into federal service to execute the laws.

This has actually been done more times by Democratic Presidents than by Republican Presidents. Doesn't matter whether the governor likes it or not, and is nothing new youngster.

Memphis has problems that can’t just be cleaned up with ‘more police’

There probably aren't more than 5-6 posters here either old enough or familiar enough with history to know what you're talking about.

People keep using the word “communist” to refer to anything that they don’t like.

It’s annoying.

Last I checked there aren’t any command economies in the United States and private property rights exist.

Oh hell no, I lived in Memphis, clean it up. Thank heavens for the Feds.

I’m from Memphis. Sending in the national guard won’t fix anything. They’d need the entire US army to cast a net over Shelby County and leave them there for a decade.

You don’t know Memphis. We don’t really show all the real numbers especially in certain areas of town.

Cooking crime stats in the democrats way. Even as the citizens are screaming and dying in the streets.
