I actually think the college football playoffs affected the impact of the championship game.
It seems anticlimactic compared to ESPN’s buildup of the final 4.

I am starting to believe this very thing. I really don't even think it would have mattered if a SEC team was in there. I honestly believe people were addicted to the controversy that the BCS brought. Now there is still a little of that around (TCU) but it did somewhat squash some of it.

Will be interesting to see how many watch the game. I will certainly be watching just because I am a college football fan first. No matter who plays. But I think the numbers will be down

Tbh, I never would've thought an SEC team would be absent in the championship game in this "playoff" system. Very surprised. ... Also, I pretty much couldn't care less about the game tonight (actually keep forgetting) except that I abhor Ohio St., so am hoping for a Ducks win. Other than that, Idc.

The common fan being the teams and fans of non-SEC teams. Basically every school outside of 14 that fields a team.

I'm hoping the lack of an SEC team this year motivates and pisses off every single SEC team for next year. Shove these anti-SEC'rs confidence straight down their damn throats.

I'm super excited for it. The first playoff championship in history. What's not to love?

The 2 week lead up is dumb.

It should be played the week following the playoff games.

So a month to prepare for a semifinal game but only 1 week for teams to get healthy and prepare for the biggest game of the year. Yeah, that makes all the sense in the world.
