Yall have a brutal schedule this year. Bama's was brutal last year with alot better experience returning and still lost 3.

We're not Bama...Bama is the team we spot 24 at their own house and still beat.

That's on par to where this thread is going, right?

It's either funny or sad. Hunter consistently starts more Auburn topics than all Auburn posters combined. I'm starting to lean more towards sad.....

It's going wherever yall want it to. I just stated my opinion and provided some history as to what NC teams usually do after winning it all. In my opinion, I think Auburn will do worse than any other program in the last 20 yrs in their follow up year. I'll be right. Or I'll be wrong. Either way, I have no doubt this prediction will resurface by the end of the coming fb season.

You really are grasping at straws suggesting that a team that lost their entire offensive line, heisman winning qb, top 3 WR's, and all kinds of D talent, is guilty of paying players because they fall off the next year.

I'm saying it because a team that goes:

5-7
8-5
14-0
and 6-6ish.. looks a might bit funny. Very mediocre to one great season to mediocre just doesn't happen and hasn't in the last 20 yrs at least. Probably further back, but I didn't feel like researching further. Especially when the coach leading them is 13-19 going into that season. Just because I can't see the trash dump when I'm driving by it, doesn't mean it doesn't smell and it's not there.

Doesn't look funny when you look at the roster.

5-7 4 sophomore linemen starting
8-5 4 junior linemen starting
14-0 1 junior and 4 seniors starting on the offensive line.
2011 we will be starting possibly two true freshmen, have one senior and a couple redshirt freshmen and sophomores on the line. If we lose 5 or 6 this year that is acceptable to me. But anyone thinking they will walk through Auburn this year with no worries is wrong.

Auburn will be capable of playing with anyone on their schedule again this year. There will be several games tougher than others and there will be hiccups along the way due to the learning curve for a lot of young guys. If you told me we would lose five this year and let me pick the losses, we could finish top 20 at the end of the year and I would take it now.

Having most of SEC play on the road. The investigation still continuing (whether anything comes of it or not). No senior leadership. It's got all the makings of a disastrous season. As far as losing 5 games and being in the top 20. SC did it last year only because of being in the SEC CG. If Au loses 5, they won't be close to the top 20 at the end of the year unless the entire NCAA is way down.

Auburn will stink because there is an NCAA investigation going on? We're screwed then because with your rationale you have presented repeatedly, the investigation will continue for the next 20 years. Who was Bama's senior leadership on their national championship team? I don't remember many seniors at all. All the key players except for weren't seniors.

I said it will take a toll. There are other factors, combined with that that I think will be the reason Auburn will stink. Primarily, the inexperience and the amount of road games and way the schedule sets up.

The story is old and tired...no one but message board trollers will give a rats arse about it until something pops up to support the theory.

In today's feel good story about Au in ESPN.

quote:

There has been no official word that the NCAA has closed its investigation into the Newton matter, and there were reports last month that NCAA investigators were in Thibodaux, La., looking into the recruitment of Auburn redshirt freshman Trovon Reed and Auburn 2011 signee Greg Robinson.

Yep.. so old.

I have a feeling that you are going to be very disappointed about a lot of things this year. Try not to go all Updyke when it happens.

Didn't see this...not surprised to see you didn't miss it.

Thanks, Brooks...that was Earth shattering.

Point is that with no evidence, people will care less and less. It will certainly "take its toll" if Auburn did something wrong and is busted for it. No argument there but you are pinning your hopes on continued, fruitless investigations of Auburn taking its toll on the team. Not going to happen. Even so, if it were going to be a big problem, that would have happened last year.

28-27...still stings doesn't it.

What's worse...you didn't mention that fact that we spotted them 24 at their own house.

Point is

It's not old news and it will rear it's head as the season goes. Factor in the other things I mentioned and the combination can be a long difficult yr for Au, imo.

In the last 30 years, Auburn has had (6) seasons where they won (5) or fewer games. Alabama has had (5). So statistically speaking, Alabama has just as high a probability of winning (5) or fewer games as Auburn does.

And yes, you are obsessed.

In the last 30 yrs, Bama has had 14 seasons with 10 wins or more. Auburn has had 9 seasons with 10 wins or more. Alabama has a much higher probability of continued success, where Auburn has shown to drop off more. If I'm obsessed, then you're a stalker.

Of the last 20 National Champions, 9 of them lost 3 games or more the following year.

I'll say Auburn goes 8-4 this year and finishes ranked in the bottom of the Top 25.
