Because it was good ol fashioned SEC football. Defense & special teams is what was always going to win or lose that game that year. A lot of high caliber defensive plays were made

Really wasn’t that great of a game when compared to the others. Bama got down big and it never felt like the game was in question.

Until you realize the talent on the field for both defenses. I’d put those two defenses up against any offense today and they’d shut them down.

This has always been my favorite game of the year so I don't know that I could name just one. But, we had an out of town wedding in 2008. My son was at State at the time and he was texting me when I couldn't watch on my phone. Who plans a wedding on an Alabama/LSU overtime game?

I got free tix to Game of the Century in 2011 Tuscaloosa. This was a couple weeks after my father tragically passed and I was withdrawing from painkillers.
It was such a weird, shitty game. But wouldn't trade it for the world.
200K people around BDS was a SIGHT to see. Got some great footage that day.

late to the party on this one so I won't rehash those already mentioned. So I'll share some 'from the day'--even throw in an Alabama win to promote harmony!
1986: night game at Legion Field, both teams in top 12. LSU led 14-7 at halftime. Alabama took the second half kickoff and kicked a FG to cut it to 14-10. In the fourth quarter Alabama was driving around the LSU 30 and a RB (who I will not name as I have gotten to know him over the last 15 yrs and is a GREAT guy) fumbled and on that astro turf at Legion Field must have bounced 20 yards and LSU recovered on the Tiger 10. Next possession Alabama drives as has first and goal at LSU 5 or so. Same RB gets crushed on the LSU 2 ball goes flying LSU recovers in end zone. LSU finally got some offense going and ran out the clock.
1988: BD-Tuscaloosa. In the first quarter Alabama couldn't have played any better and LSU played like they had jambalaya and king cakes for pregame meal. Fortunately for LSU,Alabama could only score FGs. Alabama was up 15-0 before LSU got a first down. LSU scored before halftime to make it 15-7 and then went up 16-15 late in the 3rd. Alabama then drove to the LSU one but on fourth down Bill Curry sent Phillip Doyle in for a FG, which was good. Alabama up 18-16. LSU comes back mainly on a screen pass from Eddie Fuller of "Earthquake Game" a month earlier. David Browndyke makes about a 25 yd fg and LSU goes up 19-18 with about :25 left. Alabama,led by now SEC Ref David Smith through two straight first downs as was aided by an LSU player with an injury stopping the clock. On the last play of the game Doyle attempted a 59 yd fg. From where we were sitting it looked wide and short and sure enough was ruled 'no good', LSU wins. Later that night at dinner the TV is showing highlights and the camera from endzone showing the kick an Doyle's kick must have gone 65 yards but it was about 6 feet wide. I about died seeing how close it was!!
1991 Tiger Stadium: Jay Barker got his first start as Danny Woodson was suspended for some team violation. David Palmer ran a punt back for a TD 90 yards so Alabama was up 7-0 before Barker hit the field. Alabama took a 20-7 lead into the 4th. LSU put two kick drives together to cut it to 20-17. On the next drive LSU drove deep again and on 4th down attempted a FG. Antonio London blocked it but there were still a few minutes left. On 4th and 1 at the Alabama 35, Gene Stallings said go for it and Alabama made the first and then ran out the clock. 20-17 Ala.

I was in TS in 2012 and 2014 so those are top of the list for me, though 2012 was really a snoozefest in the second half until the final drive.
2014 wasn't an offensive masterclass by any means either. For whatever reason Derrick Henry only touched the ball 8 times. Bama drove around 90 yards in 50 seconds to kick a game tying field goal though. The game went to overtime but it essentially ended on that ensuing kickoff in regulation. Foster decleated Fournette and the energy shift was just palpable at that point. Bama runs a seam route on the first play to the 3rd tight end down to the 1 yard line then connects with Deandrew White on a slot fade to score in OT. LSU can't move the ball. Game

Julio Jones catches a deep comeback route on Patrick Peterson to set up Alabama on the goal line, who punches it in for the win.
