That you were a DKE explains a lot.

I always did get a laugh driving past the DKE house on game days with many of the signs hanging from the front of the house. Always in bad, but very humorous, taste.

I often laugh watching Animal House. That was us on road trips to New Orleans in the 50’s for beer runs.

They’ve closed the LSU DKE Chapter as the new breed can’t hang with the crazy hazing rituals. Sad it’s been shut down

G. Rollie White The Hollar House on the Brazos.

It was a dump, but you could make some noise in there.

From a game day standpoint, State has moved light years since I was in college. But I do miss Hank Flick (RIP) as PA announcer, especially for basketball. They keep hiring new people but cant get it right.

I miss skipping wednesday afternoon labs to stand in line for two hours to get a good seat for a basketball game. I miss cruising the south farm on a tractor on Friday afternoon.

Off campus, $1 you call it Tuesdays and $.25 draft Fridays at Cheers were always fun. Not my kind of thing these days, but had a good time with it back then.

GCSU no longer has a Fencing or Bowling team at the varsity level. Those two allowed me to continue with competitive sports past highschool. They have pretty much gone straight Peachbelt in sports. They dropped or made the rest club sports.

I don’t believe I would fit in now either school. The cafeteria and student center are completely redone, the res life stuff is so formal and by the book now. The whole college experience at GCSU is so different. I helped a buddy move his kid down there a couple of years ago and while campus looked the same none of it was. The new dorms do not fit in, the parking went from manageable to non existent, stuff was moved. The quad was empty. The vide was completely different.

But in fairness I graduated in 98 and GA Lottery money was already pouring in then so it’s not surprising.
