With the new college football playoff, will we have an actual NCAA champ now in football?

I can't find this answered anywhere, so I will assume no.

still not NCAA recognized, so technically no.

However, in 100 years people will look at the pre-playoff titles the way we look at poll era basketball titles.

They were all real. Don't buy into that mythical bullshite.
Were UF's 2006 and 2008 NC's real or mythical?

You can't really discount the BCS titles because that's the system that everyone agreed to play under with a specific trophy that they agreed to play for.

Definitely real because that was basically the predecessor to the BCS.

I do agree that the BCS titles are much more definitive in terms of national champions than in years past. I would just like to see the day when a champion is actually NCAA sponsored. However, that may take away alcohol sales at the playoff games, which may be a huge problem for a lot of college football fans.

I guess the point I am really trying to get at is that no previous national champion in FBS football can put "NCAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS" on a banner. Call it petty, but it would be nice to be NCAA sponsored at some level since they try to virtually run the whole thing anyway.

Well that 2011 championship is as real as it gets. You LSU fans won't dispute that right?
