And before you Texas fans say we've got more money, that's true, but it's not about how much you have. It's about how much you're willing to spend, and I promise you Alabama is willing to spend more. That's why you were never able to hire Saban away from them in the first place. Alabama will go with the same "we're only hiring him if he was one of Bear's boys" mindset that caused them to wander in the wilderness for years post Bryant.
Mack Brown sabotaged the Saban to Texas thing. He didn't want someone who could immediately turn Texas around and exceed what he accomplished in his 13 seasons. This is well known among the fanbase, money was never the issue.

I don't think Bama can spend more money than Texas, but IF Sark were to leave, I think it would be because of how much the money coffers love to meddle and have a "say so". Look at Texas, aTm.......hell , look at Jerry Jones and Dallas. Texans have plenty of money, but they think they can run something better than the person they hired to do the job. That is the only shot we have at getting Sark.
that was in the past, aggy has far more big money meddlers than we do now. The vast majority of our BMD's simply write the checks and let the AD and coach do their thing.

You have no sauces. Bama would have to pay his 20 million dollar buyout. That isn't happening

Fan base hell, Red McCombs confirmed it. Deal was all but lined up but Red said they wouldn't do it without Mack's blessing since Mack would be "retiring". Mack got pissed and stayed on as coach as a result.

I know all this, just refuting the Gump who said money was the reason we didn't get Saban. The "miss Terry house shopping in the Austin area" wasn't just smoke at the time if you talk to people who were in real estate back in 2013.

I remember reading a story back then. Texas was pursuing Saban. Alabama knew it. They reached out to their big money boosters for X amount to up his contract. Within a very short window of time the boosters came back with like 4x whatever they were asking for. It was definitely about money. Again, it was not about how much money Texas had. It was about what they were willing to spend.
