You're in the SEC and have to play Clemson every year. It'll be tough to land a high quality coach for that gig. You'll have to take some risks.

We had two high quality coaches before Muschamp. You may have heard of them.

In the meantime, Ray is stepping down. I'm sure we'll be hearing all the details soon enough. It's past time for him to go.

Dear God, yes. Ray has been a disaster, and it is such a shame.

This is such a tired take.

I swear folks on this forum don't have the memory capacity that God gave goldfish. "USC is average this year so they must have always been average and they will always be average!" Horsefeathers, it wasn't that long ago y'all were an 11 win team.

They've won 10 games what, 4-5 times in 120 years?
That's your anomaly.

I'm setting aside the rivalry trolling and offer an observation that I think explains in part why USC will hang on to Coach Boom.

Since Willie Taggart had a similar buyout and FSU fired him with a huge buyout its a good comparison. Look at the home attendance of both schools. FSU was only half way filling up an 80,000 stadium and from what I can seen all USC games has over 70,000 attend all home games. One thing I've always give this fan base credit for is their support. The problem is that is the greatest weakness at times.

FSU's fan base hit the school in the pocket so hard that that couldn't afford to keep Taggart due to the loss of attendance which affects vendors, parking, admission applications, etc...

As long as South Carolina is filling Willie B and writing checks to the schools the BOT will drag this out as long as they can possibly hang on...

The ole "change your assistants or you're gone" routine.

That routine is what, 0 for 97,000 in the history of football? Smart move USC!

This is dead on accurate. So many of our fans have been patted on the head for so long for being loyal that they think that is the most important thing. You'll regularly hear "but if we stop showing up we will lose recruits!"

Like, what the frick do you think losing to App State is doing for our recruiting efforts?

Of course, but you are flawed. You are hoping to hire someone for an anomaly, not the standard.

Did LSU accept it with Miles? Did Georgia accept it with Richt? Different levels obviously, but same concept.

No, but LSU/UGA are not 7-5 average teams. They have been to the mountain top. USCe hasn't.

Well, you are .511 all time (611–583–44), have finished the season exactly 9 times ranked in the AP, have one conference championship (ACC) and have played in zero BCS/NY6 bowls.

Honestly if Spurrier did not decide to retire at South Carolina (33-6 in three years is pretty damn impressive), USCe would be sub .500 all time.

For the same shite your own school reported within the last 12 months. And I think you guys had more violations than we did. Just because Ray bends over and asks the NCAA to stick it in doesn't mean people aren't aware of what you frickheads are doing in the hills.

As I said, one team is currently on probation. It ain't Clemson.

No. He cost us considerably. We are still trying to repair everything that he messed up.

Worse hire ever.

Before Nick Saban, LSU had been to the mountaintop once - in 1958. Really, if you take away the 2007 season, Les Miles at LSU was the best version of your historical standard. And what did that get him? Fired, because you want the anomaly.

LSU has a good program, but your post makes it sound like you think you are Alabama. You very much are not, so why don't you shut the frick up and let us worry about what we want from our football coaches.

That's more of an indictment of your program .if 2,all though it be past their prime Legends couldn't get that program over that hump to the next level,it can't be done there. No fired from Florida coach can and any upstart would bolt the first time he sniffed 8 wins. The rest of the world sees it.

I remember a few years ago after 5 straight South Carolina wins hearing many Clemson fans doing the "Dabo will never beat Spurrier..he needs to go." I also remember the South Carolina fans (me included) saying.."No keep Dabo for life...ha, ha". Looking back on that and you can see than both sides were very stupid in their evaluation. I like Muschamp but his hires are questionable.

22 million dollar buyout

I was coming here to say this very thing. Doesn't matter what Mushamp does, they're not going to pay him 22 million to walk away. He'll get 18.6 next year so be ready to see Muschamp two more years.
