I mean y'all couldn't risk someone hiring him away from you.

A serious question, and I really am not trolling, but why would you want him fired?

Who is going to do a better job?

Historically, South Carolina is a vastly inferior program to Clemson, Tennessee, North Carolina, NC State, Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, etc.

Is that still true? Sure the stadium is that big, but isn't our attendance dropping like most schools?

I losing interest in the whole thing. Maybe my time has come in that regard, but I don't see many young people that are going to follow the same path of Gamecock Clubs and whatnot down the road.

We have an all-time winning record against NC State.

But you have never won a conference title.

I think the question is who would do a worse job.

Take the East.

Smart
Mason
Mullen
Stoops

Think any of those would be worse than Muschamp? Mason? Dunno, he seems to be sounder than Muschamp.

Odom
Pruitt

These guys are SSDD with regards to Muschamp I suspect.

We could do the West, but you get the picture.

Actually Dog, lightning in a bottle and random factors are hard to duplicate.

But I can guarantee that if we could somehow get our own version of Bill Snyder to sign on for the long haul Georgia's (or Florida's) path to whatever gets a whole lot harder.

Of course basically every team in the East can say the same.

So a historically mediocre team shouldn't attempt to give its fans a return on their large investments? South Carolina is a Top 15 valuable college football program per Forbes. We have a large and rabid fanbase that wants to win. Why shouldn't we expect our administration to do whatever it can to attain success? We won 11 games 3 straight years in this very decade. We may never be a national power, but our ceiling is higher than the dumpster fire we're fixing to have this year.

I gotta believe that if Carolina ever decides they want to fire this guy they can do so without paying the buyout. Just have someone tail him for a couple of days and catch him beating up on some old lady or something. That mofo is crazy.

Zero of the coaches you named would go to South Carolina, and certainly not for the long term.

You have multiple high level, national title contending programs on your schedule and in your geography. You have a program with zero history or tradition of success.

A solid case could be made that your two biggest rivals are in or entering the best period in each of their history.

To expect to overcome that given all the aforementioned factors is foolish.

I don't think so. I believe Tanner has him on Prozac or Lithium or something. He sure isn't the same guy he was at previous stops.

Were they worried someone was going to take him away from South Carolina?

My god that’s a horrific deal

This was Okie State prior to Les and Mike Gundy. Kansas State was the worst FBS program in history and Bill Snyder had them a minute away from a national title. Hell, Mississippi State has an all-time losing record but is no longer a pushover. Nobody at South Carolina is expecting a national title or even a conference title. But this team went 9-4 two years ago and beat Michigan. We're going to win 3 or 4 games this year. That's completely unacceptable.

What a dumb contract.... he should of never been extended he’s done nothing. You don’t extend or give new contract to coaches who have not proved it.

I agree with that. You don't have a cultural problem (like Tennessee does.) You are just a good coaching hire away from 7-5/8-4 type of seasons.
